Justin Allgaier sweeps the stages, wins Darlington Xfinity Series race
Mandatory Credit: Peter Casey-USA TODAY Sports

Leading 119 laps on the day, Justin Allgaier was dominant. He was able to win his first race of the season at The Lady in Black. He had opportunities to win other races this NASCAR season, but it didn’t come together until right now.

Justin Allgaier showed out for Throwback Weekend. He had a great Brandt throwback scheme and did what he had to do in order to put it in Victory Lane. Getting that first win of the season out of the way is massive for the No. 7 team.

This is his 24th win in the Xfinity Series. He is now tied for 10th all-time in the series in wins, tying Dale Jr., his boss.

No other way to put it but to call it dominant. On pit road, on the track, throughout the stages – the car was fast and the driver made sure he took care of it. Quite the statement after all of the issues this team had this season.

Justin Allgaier makes a statement in Stage 1

We have seen Justin Allgaier be dominant this season but have no wins to show for it. Late race incidents or bad weather or another issue causes him to lose it in the end. Today he took off in the first stage with similar speed we have seen this season.

Allgaier put it to Cole Custer and Austin Hill and didn’t hold back. He was really strong in a way that he often is in these wins. Stage 1 doesn’t win you the race, but it doesn’t hurt to pick up a playoff point and those 10 stage points.

William Byron had issues early in this race and it caused him to go down multiple laps down. Byron could have contended for the win, but after his incident early he was more or less out of the picture.

JR Motorsports as a whole was strong. Justin Allgaier went on to pick up the stage win, though.

A clean sweep through the stages

Allgaier kept the hammer down all day long. These Xfinity Series races at Darlington are usually close, nailbiting finishes. The 7 team took that idea and threw it to the side during today’s race. Just an absolute whooping.

Besides the dominance of Allgaier, there was a lot of good racing in the field. Two, three wide battles for position and it made for a fun afternoon of racing. Allgaier just couldn’t help and stink up the show with his great performance.

This is an example of a good race that just had a dominating driver in the front of it. Nothing anyone could really do but hope for another disaster to happen at the end of the race for Allgaier.

Austin Hill tried, Parker Kligerman looked strong at times. There were other fast cars. Allgaier was in a class of his own, though.

Justin Allgaier gets the job done for first win of 2024

The 7 team expects to contend for the championship every year. That means winning races, picking up playoff points, and making the most of your opportunities. Justin Allgaier did all of that today.

Even with a couple of late restarts in this race, Allgaier was just fine. He never panicked, didn’t get ahead of himself – just kept wheeling that car in clean air and brought it home for the win.

This is the first win for Allgaier since Martinsville last season, a win that got him in the championship round. Now that this first win is out of the way, the 7 team is going to do their best to rack up as many as they can before the postseason begins.

Justin Allgaier gets the win and ties Dale Jr. in Xfinity Series wins. Massive moment for his career and for the season.
