With all track activity at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Friday rained out, including qualifying for the Kobalt Tools 400, Brad Keselowski will start the race from the starting position. The top 36 cars in the field are set based on the 2012 points, giving the No. 1 spot to the points champion.
“It’s a really good deal,” Keselowski said. “I guess that’s one of the perks being the champion in the first few races. This is the first time I’ve ever had decent starting position from a rainout.
If weather clears up on Saturday, the Sprint Cup Series has two scheduled practice sessions.
The National Weather Service predicts less than a 10 percent chance of rain for Saturday and Sunday.
Starting next week at Bristol Motor Speedway, if qualifying is to be rained out, the field will be set based on the 2013 points.
The Kobalt Tools 400 will air live at 3 p.m. ET on FOX. Green flag is scheduled for 3:16 p.m.
