The NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville wasn’t the best race the fan could hope for as the lack of passing and tier wear made it less entertaining. But the one of group of people that was delighted after the race would’ve been the Hendrick Motorsports fans. They team secured a 1-2-3 finish on Sunday, with Willaim Byron taking the win.

The Hall of Famer team owner of HMS, Rick Hendrick couldn’t make it to the track as he had medical treatment to be done with his leg. So, he watched the race from his home and was pretty tensed as each lap of the race went by. But when Willaim Byron, Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott secured the podiums, he was over the moon and it felt like a divine intervention to him.

I’m still having a hard time believing it today. It was almost like divine intervention with just how in the world it all ended up like that on a day like that. Rick Hendrick said via RACER.

Sunday marked the 40th anniversary of HMS’ first Cup win ever and they celebrated that with special red paint-schemes. The teams were hoping to secure the win, but the podium sweep was the cherry on top. It was the biggest gift NASCAR’s most accomplished team owner ever could ask from his crew and they delivered it to him.

Rick Hendrick claims the result was unbelievable for him

The NASCAR legend admitted that he was in shock after the race as he couldn’t believe what unveiled Infront of him. He was really happy about the fact that in one part of the race all of his cars were running in the top-8 with ease.

I was in shock; I was really was. I didn’t want to let myself believe that it could happen, and then we were running (with) all of them in the top eight and we were leading. I don’t know how many laps we led, but it was a bunch. I just could not believe. Rick Hendrick said.

It was HMS’ fourth win of the 2024 season, with three of them coming from Byron and one from Larson. He would now be hoping to see victories from Alex Bowman and Chase Elliott, who have been winless since the end of 2022 season. All four of the HMS drivers securing the playoff spot will give the team the much-needed shot at winning a championship in the Next-Gen era.
