Ron Hornaday competed in the inaugural NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) event at Homestead-Miami Speedway (HMS) on March 17, 1996 Hornaday has one win at HMS in the 2002 season-ending Ford 200 South Beach Stats…Originally a rectangular oval similar to Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Homestead-Miami Speedway has been reconfigured twice, most recently in 2003, to encourage better competition with a variably-banked, continuous-turn layout. Hornaday has led 126 laps at the speedway en route to one win (November 2008) as well as four top-five and 10 top-10 finishes in 12 starts at the Homestead, Florida track. Hornaday boasts an average start of 12.5 coupled with an average finish of 6.9 and has completed 100 percent of laps attempted (1739 of 1739). In The Loop…According to NASCAR’s loop data statistics, Hornaday has the following stats at HMS: -A driver rating of 101.8, ranking him sixth overall -First in laps in the top-15 with 848 -Second in green-flag passes with 307 -Fifth in laps led with 53 -Fifth in fastest laps run with 26 Chassis History…Ron Hornaday will pilot JDM 5 in this weekend’s Ford EcoBoost 200 at HMS. This is a brand new chassis built by Turner Motorsports specifically for this weekend’s season finale. Get to the Point…Following a22nd-place finish in the last NCWTS event, the Lucas Oil 150 at Phoenix International Raceway, Hornaday remained 13th in the 2012 NCWTS driver point standings. It’s been a tough year to say the least, but we still have a lot to prove in the final race of the season at Homestead. We were proud to welcome Smokey Mountain Herbal Snuff on board earlier this year and I hope to have a strong run for them this weekend. We are in the process of getting plans ironed out for next year and it would be rewarding to go out on top, to give Joe and all the employees at JDM something they have struggled to find in the last two seasons, a win.”
