Team: No. 6 Winn-Dixie Ford Mustang presented by Cargill Crew Chief: Mike Kelley Chassis: RK-718 Bayne at Daytona International Speedway: Trevor Bayne opened the 2013 season by winning the pole at Daytona International Speedway (DIS) in February. Despite starting at the front of the pack, the car suffered mechanical problems leaving the No. 6 team in 31st-place. Bayne is the second fastest driver early in a run at DIS. During the first 25% of laps after a pit stop Bayne averages 186.7mph, just slightly below the leader’s 188.4mph. The Car: Chassis RK-718 has not been on the track since Ricky Stenhouse Jr. used it to open his 2012 Championship season in Daytona. Stenhouse finished 19th after being entangled in a crash in turn four of the final lap. The Sponsor: Winn-Dixie will return to Roush Fenway Racing on the No. 6 car after a historic run with Mark Martin and the No. 60 car. Winn-Dixie sponsored Martin and the No. 60 car for nearly a decade. Together, they amassed 20 pole positions and nearly 40 wins. The Winn-Dixie paint scheme is being presented by the No. 6 team’s primary sponsor, Cargill Ground Beef. Bayne on Race Strategy in Daytona: “Being where we are in the points and having a 68-point deficit in the Nationwide Series, that’s something we can overcome before the end of the year but we have to be smart at Daytona. After talking with Jack (Roush) we’re going to be a little more conservative this race. We’re going to ride around, which is something I don’t like to do, I like to be in the front. This time, they want me to hang in the back and as long as I’m up there on the last couple laps it won’t really matter. So, I think that will be a little bit different for me.” -Roush Fenway Racing PR
