Ty Dillon breaks down his decision to join Rackley W.A.R. for 2024 season

“To have this opportunity come about is awesome,” Dillon said on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio earlier this week. “Three years ago, when I didn’t even have a full-time ride, I was bouncing around anything I can get my hands on, just trying to compete and stay in the top ranks in that car.”

Ty Dillon wants to race near the top of the field again

Dillon, 31, finished fourth and second in the points standings in his two full-time seasons in the Truck Series piloting the No. 3 truck for Richard Childress Racing. He found success in the Xfinity Series, finishing fifth, third and fifth in three seasons (2014-16).

Since 2017, Dillon has been a mainstay in the Cup Series. After four less than inspiring campaigns driving the No. 13 Chevrolet for Germain Racing, Dillon joined Petty GMS Motorsports ahead of the 2022 season. He finished 29th in the points standings, racking up just one top-10 finish. Dillon spent the 2023 season with Spire Motorsports but struggled to find speed or success. He failed to record a top-10 finish and finished 32nd in the points standings. Spire Motorsports tabbed Carson Hocevar to replace him in the No. 77 Chevrolet in 2024.

Dillon has certainly been around the block in NASCAR, but a fresh opportunity with Rackley W.A.R. represents renewed optimism.

“To have an option like running for a team like Rackley W.A.R. in the Craftsman Truck Series is very exciting. I think sky’s the limit this year for what we can do this year,” Dillon said. “Just put my name in the Rackley W.A.R. at the top of the list every weekend as far as the people have to be, it’s something exciting and it’s got me very motivated for this year and [I’m] going to have fun doing it.”
