1. Boston Celtics (3rd in East, 7th in NBA)
Who is new: Brandon Bass, Keyon Dooling, Chris Wilcox, JaJuan Johnson, E’Tuan Moore
Why are they here: Certainly not because of how they played to start the season. With Jeff Green gone for the year and Paul Pierce hurt, the Celts have started 0-3.
Most important player: Rajon Rondo. He’s going to have to get the most out of the aging veterans on this team.
Outlook: I’m not going to cheat, since I did these before the season started, but the Celtics certainly don’t look like a 3rd seed right now. Jeff Green being gone for the year is a loss and it happened late enough they couldn’t really replace him. I think that they will get in a groove as the season wears on, but will continue to struggle in the outset. I could also see Ainge making a big move, as he obviously tried to do with the Paul for Rond...

Will the Improved Play of Rajon Rondo Be Enough to Carry the Celtics?
How old is too old? The Boston Celtics could very well answer that question for us this season. Since the Celtics won the title in 2008, there has always been talk of the current season being the Big Three’s “last chance.” Experts said it two years ago when Boston lost in the NBA Finals. They also said it last season and many are going with it again this year...

Undefeated Hornets top winless Celtics
Jarrett Jack had 21 points and nine assists in his regular-season debut, and New Orleans dominated in its home opener, beating the winless Boston Celtics 97-78 on Wednesday night.
The Celtics are 0-3 for the first time since 2006-07, the season before they traded to bring Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen in to help star Paul Pierce. Pierce has yet to play this season because of a bruised...
Comments From the Other Side - Pistons 12/30
It sure was good to get a win in this one and just as good to see the Captain back on the court. There's no use criticizing the Pistons, their fans seem to do enough of that. I feel bad for them because I've been there as a Celtics fan. Most remember their championship teams and now are hitting bottom. Some fun comments. Of course there are the recurring Boston is old...

Pistons-Celtics Preview
The Boston Celtics continue to flounder without Paul Pierce.
The Celtics will be trying to avoid their worst start in 42 years Friday night in their home opener against the Detroit Pistons in a matchup of winless teams.
Boston (0-3) last dropped its first four games in the 1969-70 season. There's no word on a possible return for Pierce, who is out with a bone bruise in his...
Boston Celtics 96, Detroit Pistons 85
The Celtics shot 52.2% from the floor and they were up 86-64 after three quarters, so the Pistons never really mounted much of a challenge. Jermaine O’Neal shot 7 of 9 from the floor last night as he led the way for the Celtics with 19 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 blocked shots. Ray Allen (17 points, 1 rebound, 4 assists and 1 steal) and Brandon Bass (17 points and...
Paul Pierce Returns, Celtics Win
Perhaps all the Boston Celtics needed was their best player. Losers of their first three games this season, the Celtics welcomed back Paul Pierce and then welcomed themselves to the win column with a 96-85 victory over the Detroit Pistons.
In his debut, Pierce had 12 points, five assists and four rebounds. He hit half of his eight shots from the field and both of his free throws...
