Back on Friday Night, the Philadelphia 76ers beat the Atlanta Hawks by the score of 99-80 and the ending to the game caused much a stir with some 76ers fans.In case you didn't know, if the 76ers score 100 points during a home game, each fan in attendance gets a coupon for a free McDonald's Big Mac.With less than twenty-four seconds to play, many Philly fans tried to urge the Sixers to score one more basket to get to the century mark and earn that free burger. However, head coach Doug Collins just wanted to run the clock out and collect the win. Here's what ended up going down:Well, the Sixers had 99 and received the ball with 23.9 seconds remaining, just barely enough for Collins to demand Evan Turner hold the ball until the final buzzer despite the crowd's urgings for a final basket. As the crowd playfully berated Turner, he pointed in jest to Collins. Blame it on the coach that the Sixers came up short of triple-digits, Turner was saying. "There was nothing I could do," he explained.Nonetheless, the fans got their Big Macs. As the time ticked off the clock this announcement came over the PA system: "Free Big Macs courtesy of Doug Collins." The announced attendance for the game was over 18,000, so it appears that Doug had to pony up a sizable amount for fans to collect that free burger.
