Philadelphia was one of the surprises of the NBA season, finishing with a .500 record, which was good for seventh in the Eastern Conference. They met Miami in the first round and were eliminated in five games, but they were in all of the games except for Game 2, which they lost by 21 points. Doug Collins earned some consideration for Coach of the Year for his job with the 76ers, but now the real work begins as he got a glimpse of what this young team could be. The 76ers are in desperate need of a player who can score 20 points per game, and they’re not going to improve their NBA betting odds until they do. Elton Brand led the team with 15.6 points, but that’s about as good as you’re going to get from a 32-year-old power forward who is a bit undersized and has had injury problems. Andre Igoudala is a versatile player who has morphed into one of the league’s best perimeter defenders, but he’s not consistent enough to score 20 points a night.
