76ers trade Danny Green, No. 23 pick to Grizzlies for De'Anthony Melton

The Philadelphia 76ers acquired De'Anthony Melton in a trade with the Memphis Grizzlies during the 2022 NBA Draft, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. In return, the Grizzlies reportedly received Danny Green and the No. 23 pick, which was used to select Colorado State guard David Roddy.

Melton, 24, was a second-round pick for the Houston Rockets in 2018, but was traded to the Phoenix Suns prior to his rookie season. A year later, he was traded to the Grizzlies where he spent three seasons. In the 2021-22 season, Melton averaged 10.8 points and 4.5 rebounds in 22.7 minutes per game.

Both the Grizzlies and the 76ers reached the conference semifinals before they were bounced from the postseason.

Green, 35, spent the last two seasons with the 76ers and finished the 2021-22 season with an average of 5.9 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.0 assist. In the postseason, Green scored 8.6 points per game with 3.1 rebounds.

Earlier in the evening, Memphis traded with the Minnesota Timberwolves to acquire the No. 19 pick and select Wake Forest forward Jake LaRavia. The No. 23 pick was set to be Philadelphia's first draft selection of the night.
