THE `BURBS - Training camp hasn't gotten off to a good start for the Pacers and two of their players.
Swingman Mike Dunleavy is joining rookie Tyler Hansbrough on the sidelines for the immediate future after an MRI revealed a "grade-2 strain" of a ligament behind his right knee. Coach Jim O'Brien said Dunleavy won't practice in October.
This is definitely a big blow for the Pacers.
It was only 48 hours earlier that O'Brien and Dunleavy talked about how he would be able to practice on a limited basis during training camp.
Dunleavy didn't do anything in practice during the portion the media was able to watch Saturday and he got treatment during the time we were in there Sunday.
"The one thing I say to people is that I'm not out of the woods yet," he said during the team's media day Friday. "I still have a little bit of a ways to go."
This wouldn't seem like a big deal if there hadn't been talk about Dunleavy possibly being ready for the Oct. 28 season opener at Atlanta.
