Baron
The Clippers had their news conference today to introduce the newest member the Clippers and the biggest free agent signing in Clipper history. Baron seemed to be very happy to be on board and the Clippers management seemed very estatic to have him in the fold as well. With the events of the past week, could you imagine where the Clippers would be at the moment if Baron had not decided to honor his committment. Baron is a man of his word, he is a man of honor, and he is our hometown hero. Baron was raised in Los Angeles, went to high school at Crossroads in Santa Monica, was a legend at UCLA, and now he gets to come home a finish career where it all started. As one of the best point guards in the league, he will now lead a team that will rely more on young players than ever before. Cat Mobley, Tim Thomas, and Chris Kaman will make up the vets who will see a lot of playing time. Baron will have to mentor such young newcomers like Eric Gordon, Al Thorton, DeAndre Jordan, and M...

Live & Die in L.A.

After former Warrior, Baron Davis decided to come play in the Staples Center (with the red floor), it seemed that the Clippers were an Elton Brand re-up away from contending for a playoff spot. Even with the probable loss of free agent to-be Corey Maggette, the Clippers had drafted Indiana stud guard, Eric Gordon and were looking good. Unfortunately for the Clipper faithful, Elton...

Does Brand make the Sixers an instant contender?

As a Sixers fan, you can't help but love the way the 76ers roster looks on paper: (1) Andre Miller, (2) Andre Iguodala, (3) Thaddeus Young, (4) Elton Brand, (5) Samuel Dalembert.  That has the look of a truly complete team.  And don't forget the talented young reserves such as Louis Williams and Jason Smith who are both developing well.It seems that the Sixers are only a sharpshooter...

Pulling a Livingston

Pulling a Livingston (as defined by the Isaac dictionary) pull-ing a liv-ing-ston phrase, slang 1. A player who takes a cartoon-like fall and dislocates his knee, therefore, rendering themself useless for the rest of their athletic career and subsequently, getting cut by their team a year later.

Did The Clips Get Falked?

That's right, the guy who has made few (if any) NBA-related headlines since he signed Elton Brand back in 1999 is once again having his name appear in the body of many articles…again because of Elton Brand. Rumor is that William Wesley still likes him, but Donald Dell will always hate him and I believe that he does not have many friends who are fans of or executives at, the...

The Other Clipper Becomes the Other Warrior

I'm a little shocked at the desperation this move reeks of; I don't know of anyone (outside the Warriors and Mrs. Maggette) who values Maggette at $10 million per. But not only am I disappointed in the Warriors for signing Maggette, but I'm a little bugged by our buddy Corey's decision to opt for the biggest deal. Although, as Matt Watson at Fanhouse reminds us, playing time could...

Maggette signs with the Warriors

After Elton Brand signed with the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday night, another Clipper decided to leave Los Angeles on Wednesday morning. Corey Maggette signed with Golden State, leaving Los Angeles missing two of their biggest stars. Earlier this free agency period Los Angeles signed Baron Davis and looked to be heading ...

I actually kinda feel sorry for the Los Angeles Clippers

Remember when I wrote a few weeks ago that, "No one wants to be a Clipper. Not really good players." Well, yesterday confirmed it. Welcome back to the show LA. The Nightmare before, after, and during every basketball season you've played for practically every year of your sad existence. The sad sack franchise that shares the same building as the Lakers (Staples Center for them...

Baron Davis Wouldn't Backstab the Clippers...Would He?

arlos Boozer's Cleveland backstab is infamous around this time every year, and rightfully so -- it was a dick move. But at best, it's still an outlier; a fluke. The commitments players make to teams during the moratorium are so public that it's unwise for the players to go back on their word. Still, if anything, Mr. Boozer reminded us that before that pen hits paper...

Karma: Could the signing of Baron Davis been to the detriment of the Los Angeles Clippers?

Six days ago, Yardbarker blogger Baron "DB" Davis posted for the first time as a Los Angeles Clipper and 306 replies later—the public's perception of him is…well…divided. And that is putting it very lightly. Much has been talked about Davis' evoking his right to opt out of his current contract with the Golden State Warriors in the 11th hour (leaving a...

Sixers Sign Elton Brand

Well that didn't take long. According to several media outlets, including the Philadelphia Daily News, the Los Angeles Times, and ESPN.com, the Philadelphia 76ers have come to a verbal agreement with forward Elton Brand. The deal is reportedly worth $82 million over five years. The deal cannot formally be announced until Wednesday when the NBA trade moratorium is lifted. ...
