There has been some speculation that longtime Spur Bruce Bowen might be waived by Milwaukee and return to San Antonio, but there are two mild indications that won't happen: For one thing, Bowen is close to Blazer assistant Monty Williams, who just told Blazers Edge that he does not think Bowen will return to the Spurs. For another, Bowen just posted a very classy goodbye and thank you to his San Antonio fans on the San Antonio Express-News website: I never thought that so many good things could happen after 30 years of age. Boy was I wrong! I've been able to be part of a great city and community. I've been able to take action in helping those less fortunate, partner up with many great companies, start programs aimed at helping our youth, and many other wonderful things. By me and my family being here, all these wonderful things have taken place in our lives, and we truly appreciate it San Antonio. ... This is where my family and I reside, there are more pressing things taken p...

Bowen Could Return To Spurs

Bruce Bowen could return home. Like many fans that follow the Spurs I was excited when I heard that we were going to be receiving Richard Jefferson and in the process sending out three players. Two of which I don’t really care for. Kurt Thomas has limited years left and Fabricio Oberto has that heart issue [...]

Bruce Bowen Talks About Being Traded

Bruce Bowen talks about being traded to the Milwaukee Bucks and leaving San Antonio. (video)

The Bucks now have the Heir to a beef jerky fortune.

Okay, the Argentinean back-up center isn't really a part of the frito-lay family. And in terms of direct value? This is about 30 cents on the dollar for RJ. I mean, Bruce Bowen, Kurt Thomas and Fabricio? Outside of crippling the Spurs frontcourt depth? They win the deal. Great value for a cheap price. They can get a Chuck Hayes 4 in the draft and refill other picks that way. But...

Milwaukee Trades Jefferson To San Antonio For 3 Players

ESPN  NBA reporter Chad Ford has reported that the Milwaukee Bucks have traded forward Richard Jefferson to the San Antonio Spurs for Bruce Bowen, Kurt Thomas and Fabricio Oberto. The trade would end Jefferson’s stint with the Bucks after just one season after coming over in a trade from the New Jersey Nets last Summer. The deal would be [...]

The Milwaukee Bucks Deal Richard Jefferson to the San Antonio Spurs for Bruce Bowen, Kurt Thomas and Fabricio Oberto

As I was finishing up another segment with Dr. Boyd that mainly dealt with Kobe Bryant and to a lesser extent Ricky Rubio, I had a feeling a trade went down. I’d heard earlier about a Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen to the Pistons for Rip, Tayshaun and Stuckey, but Joe would be stupid for making such a deal especially with Allen being in his last year of his deal. In this business you...

Spur of the Moment

Look for the San Antonio Spurs to be the early title favorite in 2010 after acquiring Richard Jefferson from the Bucks on Tuesday. From a winning standpoint the Spurs trade for Richard Jefferson looks brilliant (They gave up Bruce Bowen, Kurt Thomas, & Fabricio Oberto). But from an economics standpoint, it may not be the best. The Bucks gave up Jefferson to clear some much needed...

Bucks Trade Tracker

The Milwaukee Bucks have acquired guard/forward Bruce Bowen, forward/center Kurt Thomas and forward Amir Johnson for Richard Jefferson in a three-team trade with San Antonio and Detroit, General Manager John Hammond announced today.

Jefferson puts Spurs back in title hunt; CP3 jumps Kobe & LeBron

Enough of the rumors; Tuesday saw one actual, real-life NBA trade go down (or at least be agreed to in principle) that seriously impacts the 2010 championship race, and another that great impacts the top of tomorrow’s Draft. The Spurs basically stole Richard Jeffferson from the Bucks, sending them Bruce Bowen, Kurt Thomas and Fabricio [...]

RJ to the Spurs

As reported on by ESPN.com Richard Jefferson was traded to the Spurs earlier today. In return the Milwaukee Bucks received Bruce Bowen, Fabricio Oberto and Kurt Thomas from the Spurs. Look, if you’re a Spurs fan you should be happy about this deal. Jefferson is a legit player in this league. Mostly the Spurs needed to add [...]

Bucks trade Richard Jefferson to Spurs for Bruce Bowen, Fabricio Oberto and Kurt Thomas

The San Antonio Spurs today announced they have obtained forward Richard Jefferson from the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for Bruce Bowen, Fabricio Oberto and Kurt Thomas. “We are thrilled to add Richard Jefferson to the Spurs roster. He is a talented, athletic player - in the prime of his career - who can influence the game [...]

San Antonio Spurs fortifying?

There's a report out there that the Spurs' pursuit of Richard Jefferson has come to fruition with the trade of Fabricio Oberto, Bruce Bowen and Kurt Thomas. Can't imagine that's all there is to this deal. In fact, I've heard other rumblings regarding the Bucks. But more about that as the day unfolds. There are going to be lots of rumors now that the first domino appears to have...

Spurs make it official

The league has signed off on the trade for Richard Jefferson in exchange for Fabricio Oberto, Kurt Thomas and Bruce Bowen. On paper, this looks like a huge win for the Spurs, who took advantage of Milwaukee wanting to dump a contract. But don't assume the Spurs now are on a level with the Lakers, or even Denver. They are much worse defensively now. And unless they have a Rasheed...

Breaking News: Richard Jefferson Traded To The Spurs

According to ESPN.com, the Bucks have traded Richard Jefferson to the Spurs for Bruce Bowen, Kurt Thomas and Fabricio Oberto. This is a great move for the Spurs who instantly add youth to a team who was getting very old. Plus, for the Bucks, they had a clear financial incentive to make this trade. Bowen, [...]
