Charlotte Bobcats have a few North Carolina connections of the Tar Heel variety. Michael Jordan is part owner, point guard Raymond Felton was a member of the team that won the 2005 NCAA Division 1 Men’s Basketball National Championship, head coach Larry Brown is a UNC guy as are two of his assistants (including the legendary Phil Ford).Safe to say, rookie Gerald Henderson recently of Duke was likely to catch some flak when he was drafted by the Bobcats. For starters, the veterans are making Henderson carry a light blue North Carolina backpack everywhere he goes. All the rookies have backpacks that go with them on trips, to dinner and other places. Pink Disney-themed backpacks are popular this year but given the heavy Tar Heel influence among the Bobcats Henderson got a Carolina blue backpack. To make it more special, it's autographed by Felton."I try to match it with stuff, but I don't have a lot of Carolina blue," Henderson said after practice yesterday. On the court in Cleveland on Tu...

Video: Gerald Wallace delivers a facial

Fill in the blank to create your own Hornets-Bobcats television commentary: "Tyson Chandler may see some action on the— AND LOOK AT THAT FACIAL BY GERALD WALLACE(notes)! That was ___________."

I must admit I'm a Felton convert

Raymond Felton is relentless. He doesn't take off games, plays or practices. He just comes at you and he refuses to stop. Eventually he wears you down. Felton, 25, wore defenses down last season. New head coach Larry Brown put him in that position when he made Felton his full-time starting point guard. For the first time in four seasons as a professional, Felton no longer had to share.

(By Rick Bonnell, rbonnell@charlotteobserver.com) This might have been a fake game, but for center Nazr Mohammed, these were real minutes.

The AP reports: NBA icons, All-Stars and A-plus-list celebrities LeBron James and Shaquille O’Neal made their debut as Cleveland teammates on Tuesday night and had immediate chemistry in the Cavaliers’ 92-87 preseason-opening victory over the Charlotte Bobcats. James and O’Neal worked several pick-and-rolls, showing off a two-man game that with a little polish could be [...]

D.J. Augustin finds Alexis Ajinca for the authoritative finish

Bobcats Exercise Option On Augustin

The Bobcats exercised a $2.45million option on D.J. Augustin, weeks before the deadline, but are still undecided whether to guarantee a similar, $1.47million option on forward Alexis Ajinca. That speaks to the divergence of the situations: Not only did Augustin have a fine rookie season, he’s the team’s only protection at point guard should Raymond Felton leave after...

Augustin powers Bobcats past Hornets

GREENSBORO – One thing is indisputable: D.J. Augustin is back to full health. An abdominal strain robbed Augustin of his explosion and change-of-direction the second half of last season. But Thursday he drove his way to 18 free throws, making 16, in the Charlotte Bobcats' 108-101 preseason victory over the New Orleans Hornets at Greensboro Coliseum.

Okafor shouldn't have been so surprised

Emeka Okafor says he was shocked by the news last summer that the Charlotte Bobcats had traded him. I'm surprised Okafor didn't see that as a real possibility. The signs were there. I'm not suggesting it was likely to happen...

Gerald Henderson: Rookie Hazing Victim

Found on Nazr Mohammed’s Twitter feed: If you look carefully I think that is Raymond Felton’s autograph on the bag. Obviously a little rookie hazing down in Charlotte. At least Henderson can say that once in his life he actually wore something nice.   This article was originally published at http://tarheelfanblog.com.
