Dwayne Wade: SI Sportsman of the Year

Although the Heat are struggling right now, at least the good news is that Dwayne Wade will be named Sports Illustrated's Sportsman of the Year for his heroic antics in last year's playoffs. Without D-Wade, Miami would not have even made the playoffs, and certainly his unbelievable play single-handedly won the Heat the NBA Championship. Congrats D-Wade!

What about Roger Federer or Tiger Woods? I feel like either of them are more deserving than D-Wade.

Here's your answer. Evidently, being sportsman of the year has more to do with being marketable than deserving.

"Johnson himself feels that Roger Federer or Tiger Woods probably deserved consideration. Unfortunately, "SI's editors, in [his] humble view, are swayed too much by the fact that tennis covers don't sell" and "Woods has already been SOY twice"

I hope D-Wade thanks the NBA's referees and david stern when he gives his speech.
