Gilbert Arenas' Pursuit of Happyness

Count on Gilbert Arenas to find what Stephon Marbury, Allen Iverson and other point guard prodigies couldn't find in their playing primes.

A willingness to take less money for a better shot at winning.

Over the next six years, Gilbert Arenas will make $111 million dollars, $16 million million less than the Wizards' initial offer. He still in the tax bracket for lavish birthday parties, and elaborately planned pranks against Nick Young.

He's also in the market for a great comeback story from knee injury, a post-player free agent signing, and a realistic run at post-season relevance.

No way an agent can deliver all of that. They're much too greedy, and he's far too ordinary. He was no fool; he's set for life and has a chance to be one of the greatest basketball players to retire in a Wizards/Bullets jersey. He has more adoration today than in all the mornings after a game-winning shot combined.

And yet, we're the ones who feel lucky.

Not a bad job for a guy who flipped a quarter to get here.

He needs to take less money for a shot but he still is on the wrong team to compete for a title. If one great player like Lebron can own his whole squad than never in a billion years could they beat the Celtics or Lakers. Arenas will never lead a team to a championship. The guy just isn't a good enough player. Gilbert Arenas is a role players. He isn't the leader that makes the plays to win. It's never a team win when he just shoots 40 shots and his team wins by 2.

Role players don't average almost 30 points a game through out the course of a season. Role players don't consistently want or take the last shot when the game is on the line. Role players don't drop 60 on the Lakers (while Kobe was checking him). Add over twentyfive 40-plus games and three 50-plus games. That's not what a role player is.

dont give Arenas so much credit i dont think he had much of a choice while he is an outstanding player who really wants to pay even that kind of money to an often injured loud mouth im glad my sixers didnt go get him thanks WIZ ur team is done for years.
