I am really wondering if all this Agent Zero to Agent Hero junk is getting to this guys head. Once again he make an overzealous statement about being a max paid player. Where does he get off making all of these statements? He recently said in the Washington Times saying, "I'm still going to be the number one free agent. I mean on a bad leg I still average 22." He then goes to tell to the Washington Times that he will be opting out of his contract this summer, because he thinks he is a "Max Player." His words not mine. So is anyone else getting sick this? So he averages 22 points a season for the past two years, but the thing is he has only really played one full season, since he missed so many games last year, and pretty much this entire season. To me Arenas is starting to seem more and more like Stephon Marbury. He has not shown us anything more then 22 points and 5.6 rebounds. I can name of 25 players with those stats that are not even close to max money. So what is your opinion? Do 22 points and 5.6 rebounds a night deserve max money, like 16-20 million a year money? For a guy that is injury prone, brings drama to the team, and likes to shoot way to much, he sure does not seem like a max money man to me. But I am not going to hate on a guy that is just trying to get more money. The list of positives for this guy are long as well, but lately his negatives have been outshining everything else this guy is about. I miss the underdog stories about the guy that worked hard to get to the top, but now it seems it has all gone to his head. What's a Agent Zero fan of the past to do?

Yikes, my man! Sure, it has taken Gil a while to grow up - he is quite the practical joker round these parts. But he is a notoriously hard worker (hence, some of the knee trouble), he IS well-liked by his teammates, and he isn't the cancer Stephon Marbury seems to be (harsh). Sounds more to me like the ranting of a man who feels his talents have been undervalued since college. He's just trying to work out some issues, ya know - trying to prove he's good enough. And if he happens to get the money? Well, so be it. Whadda ya gonna do?

no way man, he averaged about 26 points and 5 apg in the 04-05 season playing 80 games, 30 points and 6 apg in the 05-06 campaign playing 80, and almost 29 and 6apg in the 06-07 campaign playing 74. he deserves max money, he's a franchise player. he's shown us a lot more than 22 a game. he has an ego yes, but he justifies it with his game.
  • he's worth max money. I only wish max money meant more like 5 mil than 20, and I believe those changes will come over the next decade in pro sports. so yeah, get it while you can Gil. I probably would not give him more than a five year deal, and I might suggest mandatory counselling (btw, I believe we all need good cousel on a semi-regular basis).
I agree with KatKat's sound comments. Gil is an eccentric dude, an intelligent man, a practical man who knows who is worth the max and who is not. If he were trying to say he is worth max and Monta Ellis is not, then I'd have issue. but he says Okafor is crazy to expect max money, and he's right (though someone might be crazy enough to give it to him anyway). Gil is top 10 when healthy, and top 30 when less than healthy but still playing. Not to mention wildly entertaining, which is a big part of why these guys get paid. Aren't there like 60 max money guys in the league? (I'm guessing average of 2 per team)

arenas is a great role-model for kids.......not because of his mouth, but because of his journey to the nba. gilbert turned himself from a zero to hero. thats inspiration!!

Gil knows what he's doing. You've only seen him average 22? Did you miss a season where he averaged 29.3? If Jermaine O'Neal is a max player, then Gil is a max player. I don't know who will take the risk of him given his injuries the last year and a half, but if he returns back to where he was or at least 90%, then I believe he will be a max player. You throw in 5.6 boards a game. Name another PG in the league besides Jason Kidd who averages over 5 boards a game. Throw in another 5-6 assists a game, his assists the last few years are comparable to Tony Parker. If Gil returns to where he was 2-3 years ago, he's a max player no doubt.

Max money? Free some of that money you are requesting to surround yourself with players that help you win and get you the ultimate goal. NBA championship is still the ultimate goal, correct?
Call Tim Duncan for some advice.

the dude had back-to-back-to-back 2000+ point seasons before the injury, hes definately worth the money. i just hope for his sake he's willing to take a pay cut so he can play on a good team and contend for a title (*cough* lakers)

pay him max money for his own tv show, or better yet put him and rome together on the roman arena show.

I've never liked his attitude or him as a player. He is a terrible teammate and has no concept of team, he just wants to get his numbers at all cost even if the team loses. This guy reminds of Ricky Davis and that speaks for itself. Isn't this the same guy that bounced a ball off a players head in a rookie sophomore game and then shot a 3? How classless can you get? Any team with Gilbert Arenas will have a player that will chuck his team to many losses. Have fun watching him score 60 and still lose though.

Shut up dude. To claim he's anywhere close to Ricky Davis shows you have no clue what you're talking about. Bouncing a ball off someones head is classless? LOL. I guess when Tmac in the All Star game threw it to himself and dunked it is classless as well. Bouncing the ball off Boozer was great and the crowd loved it which was the point. And by the way, it wasn't Arenas, it was Jason Richardson. Get your stuff straight.

he has no concept of the word team? when his team was winning without him he was praising them to high heavens, he wanted everyone to see how tawn and caron were all-stars and that it wasnt because of him that they have won, so please stfu.

Sorry been away for the weekend. But you guys need to stop saying he averages 29 points a season. Because he does not. His career is 22.9. He averaged 29.3 is 05-06. Is this 05-06? No!

He talks to much, more so then most. His mouth will get him in to trouble. I never said he was a bad influence for kids, or for teams. I simply stated I did not think he was worth max money. But he does bring a little drama. Plus I never said he was a bad player, he is top 20 in the league, but a lot of the time he will just take to many shots, when he plays his other teammates never shine. Look at them now, so many great players that we never really noticed.

All your points are valid, just how I felt that day, and I still feel that way today.
  • Ok Ladies and gentlemen, Gilbert O, is A Great Player, and a better team mate. Just ask the players
waiting for this Guy to come back! they all miss him badly, some more then others, Why because the team chemistry, change and will change again, some of the guys getting playing time will warm the bench. Also #1 when you as a player tell the media, you will bring a team thats at the bottom of your conference, to the play off and do it!! your not a chad johnson, your Gilbert O! making the play offs,
sence you been in the organization. #2 plus average Pts @ 26.5 A game is'nt bad considering a freak injury happened, in the game against Charlette. remember before the accident this guy average
was 29.3 Pts a game. given the play off series to Clevland Cav. when he miss the foul shots!! I'd with confidence that Gilbert O. Will be one of the great Player in the NBA, if he does"nt burn himself
out because of his work ethics, He Play Hard and Works Hard on and off the Courts (Peace to
    AGENT O !!!

its the curse of the nba live game!
  • First and foremost we barely had a team until Gil and the rest came on, and plus who do you think won a lot of those game winners last year? A lot of guys have stepped up and won games for us, but we do need that extra scoring and the fierceness of driving to the basket because we barely do that now. He is truly missed and if he gets over this injury (which was caused by a hackbox), we'll be sailing once again! Stop hatin' and let the brother get paid! He deserves it!
