Bringing Ron Artest into Houston certainly sounds like a good decision in basketball terms. The Rockets gave up Bobby Jackson (2008 version not the 2002 version), Donte Green and their 2009 draft pick (which will certainly be in the high teens if not the 20s). In return they receive a stellar defender with ferocious intensity and someone on the offensive end who could easily drop 17 points a game. But what about the ole chemistry?Shane Battier seems like a slightly poor mans sane version of Ron Artest. He defends hard and is serviceable on the offensive end all while being a model citizen. How exactly is he going to deal with being on the court/losing playing time due to Artests arrival? For Yao Ming and T-Mac they certainly will welcome the added talent, but they both are soft and a little introverted, quite the opposite of Ronny Ron. How exactly will they become good teams with Artest? Can you even for a second imagine Artest and Yao conversing? The Rockets certainly had ...

Earth to Yao Ming: Ron Artest "still ghetto"

What part of "I'm still ghetto" don't you understand, Yao? Following Ron Artest's recent trade to Houston, Rockets center Yao Ming made mention of Artest's infamous journey into the stands during a game to throw punches at a fan. YAO: "Hopefully [Artest isn't] fighting anymore and going after a guy in the stands." Artest responded by saying he'll do whatever...

Breaking News: Ron Artest Traded to the Rockets

Ron Artest is finally heading to a Western Conference contender. On Tuesday the Kings traded Artest to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Bobby Jackson and the rights to #28 overall pick Donte Green. Houston also receives more than $1 million dollars in cash.  The trade cannot be announced until August ...

Yao Ming and Dikembe Mutombo Keepin It Real....

Two Ambassadors of the game Keeping it Real in this cool conversation of Yao Ming and Dikembe Mutombo.... Must I add the finger wave by Mutombo is a signature move by most the centers in Africa....I just wished more NBA players were like these two cats.. Now a days you have players spending profusely on themselves and not helping out the impoverished. And boy one third the world...

Best places for Ron Artest to start a fight in Houston

Today Ron Artest was traded to the Rockets. Already he's best friends with Shane Battier. No doubt that the two of 'em are hard at work on a list of places to knock skulls and throw fists. But just in case that's not in the works. JPMorgan Chase Tower: 75 floors, 1,002 feet tall, and not a single dude whose ass Ronny couldn't kick. White-collar crime is one thing...

Why you should put $ on Houston to win the West

The 7 faces that you see below are quite accomplished basketball players. You may notice that their NBA mugshots form the 9th letter, as in Me, Myself, and I. I suppose this is fitting for Tracy McGrady, because the 5th year Rocket has long been considered a selfish player. How else do you explain the fact that one of the most dominant 1-on-1 players alive today (if T-Mac ...

Richard Justice hates dogs

By now, you've surely heard about Ron-Ron being traded to the Rockets, but I saw this piece last night up on Richard Justice of the Houston Chronicle's blog that I knew I had to go at FJM-style.

How would Artest vs. Battier go down in the Octagon?

In getting Ron Artest from the Sacramento Kings, the Houston Rockets have gotten a supremely talented player who is capable of being a lockdown defender and versatile offensive weapon. Great, but the Houston Rockets also have starting small forward Shane Battier, who is a great defender, three-point shooter, and all-around glue guy. Artest has a big ego and is a little crazy,...

Welcoming the NBA's Craziest Player

Let me begin by saying, I like that my favorite NBA team has never been afraid to make a big splash. The Rockets have a history of making large, aggressive moves. Look at the names they've dealt and dealt for in just MY lifetime: Tracy McGrady, Steve Francis, Dikembe Mutombo, Hakeem Olajuwon, Charles Barkley, Scottie Pippen, and now Ron Artest. This ain't roleplayer-for-cash...

Is Ron Artest a good fit in Houston??

If everyone can stay healthy and sane then this could be a big season for the Rockets.

Donte Leave doesn't work in the NBA

As I read one of my regular web site this morning a story caught my eye. The Houston Rockets are about to trade away Donte Greene, well, not until he has been a month with them, since those are the NBA rules.

Note to Ron Artest: Getting Into Fights For No Reason is Not a Part of Black Culture

Yao Ming is happy to have Ron Artest on the Rockets with one condition: "Hopefully, he's not fighting anymore and going after a guy in the stands." Ron Artest was quick to dismiss Yao. He said he hasn't changed. In fact, he said that getting into fights is part of black culture. "I'm not going to take it personal. I understand what Yao said, but...

Did We Offer Anything for Artest?

The past few months have been full of lamenting over what the Cavaliers should and could do with their off-season. We knew from the get-go that we wouldn't have much of a play in the free agent market. You know, because of that crazy salary cap thing. And while we saw a few teams make moves, we were unable to do such - mostly due to our lack of quality assets of which to trade...
