KG T'Wolves-Celtics Trade Not Looking As Bad for T'Wolves

And Kevin McHale might actually have a job next year. The T'Wolves have shown a lot in their last few games after a terrible start, and their youth indicates that there are better days to come.

al jefferson is a beast. gomes is a good player. bassy is having his best season.

a top 3 pick in the draft this year will make them scary next year

the trade will keep looking better and better for Minn. over the next several years

still don't know why everyone thought this was highway robbery - all Boston fans knew what Minn. was getting in Al Jefferson

all Minnesota fans knew what they were getting also.......its just the rest of the fans who had no clue.

It still doesnt change what McHale has done up to this point. Guy shouldnt have a job

Still though, if they could have gotten Andrew Bynum, Lamar Oden, Crittenton (or whoever they would have drafted) is that a better deal?

And yes, Jefferson's a beast and can dominate that low block despite his lack of height (relatively, of course). His defense still needs a lot of work, but there is way he should be manning the center spot.

no......the twolves did not want Odom. Bynum is good now, but he wasn't even an established player when the offer was proposed. Plus they don't need another guard in Crittenton.

the question remains how al jefferson can basically replicate KG's offensive production and only win 8 games so far. and look at the celtics - everyone thought it helped them more because they have a realistic shot at the title, while minnesota becomes semi-respectable and maybe becomes a playoff team.

It has to do with defense. Garnett was such a great player because of his defense as well, and that was a big net for for the rest of his team. For all of Jefferson's glory, he's nowhere near the defender Garnett was/is.
Jefferson's probably better than KG, especially in the low post.

i agree, i think the twolves will definitely be in the playoff hunt next year, assuming they get someone good in the draft

Kevin McHale needs to be shown the door regardless. Has everyone forgotten the Joe Smith blunder? Or how about trading away Sam Cassel and a draft pick for Marko Jaric and Lionel Chalmers? He just doesn't understand how to assemble winning basketball teams.
With regards to the Timberwolves recent spark: I think we might be looking at a flash in the pan. Jefferson is an excellent offensive player, but terrible defensively. When he's on the court the team's net points are a troubling -11.6. I don't see the wolves being a playoff threat next year. I have numerous reasons. First of all, the Western Conference is seeing more parody than previous years. No longer is it Phoenix, San Antonio or Dallas. In other words, the playoff race is much more competitive now. I feel that their defence is so awful that when it gets later in the season when teams are doing what it takes to win, this young team simply won't know how to handle it.
They're certainly showing signs of life, which as a Minnesota fan, is quite the relief. I think Jim Mora put it best. PLAYOFFS!?
