Al Harrington for Jamal Crawford and Cuttino Mobley and Tim Thomas for Zach Randolph and Mardy Collins : Donnie Walsh means business in New York. Malcontents and ballhogs who aren't helping in the Knicks' rebirth have been sent packing, with two major trades within the last 24 hours. I seriously doubt the Knicks are done dealing. I agree that it's stupid to count on getting LeBron James and Chris Bosh in 2010 (pipe dreams, until made reality). That said, most of the guys being traded are expendable in one way or another.

But if I were a Knicks fan, I'd be going crazy if the Knicks started gutting even guys like Chris Duhon (lunch pail point guard reminiscent of Charlie Ward), Nate Robinson (tough, tough little man with bright future), Danilo Gallinari (young, versatile forward), David Lee or Wilson Chandler.

Granted, none of the guys mentioned above are stars, and some never will be, but they are hard-working players who would improved any team.

There would be no point in gutting those guys. The whole point is to clear cap space and Walsh made sure not to sign anyone through 2010 since he came to the Knicks.

The decisions will have to be made on extending David Lee and Nate Robinson though 2010. We have refused to trade Lee so I'm assuming we'll give him an extension. Gallinari and Chandler have contracts through 2010, but are for a comibined 5.5 (ish) mil so it's not a huge deal.
