In addition to signing James Singleton today, the Mavericks also have waived Greg Buckner, a move that is not surprising.
Owner Mark Cuban said that Buckner, as a courtesy for his professionalism in two previous stints with the Mavericks, would be waived in time to find another team if he could not be packaged in a trade.
The Mavericks cut him and his $4-million contract, but will only have to pay the guaranteed portion of the deal, about $1 million.
The roster now stands at 16.
