After flying out to DC last Tuesday and stopping by my grandmother’s crib, I made the drive to Charlottesville, Va., for the NBPA Top 100 Camp, which I attended two summers ago and is probably my favorite event of the AAU/camp circuit. The best thing about the camp, however, as corny is it sounds, takes place off the court. Current and retired pros were there in abundance, and the time they put in with the kids was quite admirable. From guys like Mo Evans, Carl Landry, Ryan Bowen, Donyell Marshall, Lindsay Hunter and Mark Blount (the latter two really got into it) among others, helping out some of the nation’s top high school coaches on the sidelines, to former NBA players like Tim McCormick and Purvis Short running the show (with help from Dave Telep of Scou...

Patrick Chung and "A defensive genius like Bill Belichick"
Summer may be on its way (at least, that's what we're assured in perpetually rainy, 60-degree New England), but in football terms the fields lie fallow. Still, there have been a few items of note around the Patriot-sphere this week. The most intriguing for me is the love for Patrick Chung. The Patriots rookie safety was listed among NFLDraft.com writher Rob Rang's lineup of defensive...
How Did i Miss Carrie Milbank?
Ummm, Go Wings?I consider myself fairly Internet-savvy in terms of the sports blogosphere. Meaning there aren't a whole lot of "big stories" that have made their way around and missed me. And when it comes to sideline temptresses and attractive women in the booth, you've got to be under a rock to be a sports blogger and have missed a big name. Argue their relative hotness all you...

A baseball site worth a 1000 words
From the wonderful Flip Flop Fly Ball, a site full of graphical representations of Starkian useless information, we now can see that the Green Monster wouldn’t quite be able to get the third base with Lady Liberty:
There are many other excellent illustrations on the site, like a chart breaking down Mike Morgan’s innings pitched for each of his 21 teams, what a baseball diamond...

Vaughn Martin Faces An Uphill Battle, Welcomes The Challenge
With around 20 tackles and only a sack-and-a-half in 2008, Vaughn Martin's college numbers don't jump out at you initially. But look past the stats and turn on his game tape, and you'll find a one man army wearing #47. The San Diego Chargers drafted Martin with the 113th overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, but they weren't alone in their quest for the big defensive tackle. The New...

Wizards tie Revolution in SuperLiga play
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. | As Kansas City’s 1-1 draw with New England in SuperLiga action wound to a close Wednesday, Wizards substitute Herculez Gomez needed to control a pass that looked like it might skip out of his reach. At that point, the situation neatly paralleled a game that seemed to be slipping out of the Wizards’ grasp. Kansas City had been up a man since the 34th minute...

Wizards tackle Revolution in SuperLiga
Perhaps defeating the New England Revolution 3-1 just a week and a half ago will provide some sort of confidence advantage for the Wizards when the teams meet again tonight, Kansas City coach Curt Onalfo allows. But he’s not thinking much about that.
