The NBA kicked off last evening, and thanks to only having Eric Gordon and Drew Gooden going for my fantasy team, I’m in last place! (Long season. Other guys had full rosters to play. I’ll be OK. I think. I hope.)

Every day that goes by, Shawn Marion said he feels a little bouncier and a little more like the guy who is better known as the Matrix.
He said his calf felt fine after today's practice, which by the way was a brisk one.
"It was a good practice and everybody competed,'' Marion said. "Shoot, we competed more in here than we did last night.''

Shawn Marion already has made a couple of soft jump-hook shots in the paint and that ability is paying dividends in a hurry in that the perimeter is opening up for the shooters.
The Mavericks blew open a 12-5 lead early on and Marion just made another bucket from close range.
By the way, Jason Kidd is squaring up against Gilbert Arenas most of the time.

Though the score right now might suggest otherwise, count Washington coach Flip Saunders among those who believe that the Mavericks are legitimate this season.
Before tipoff, he talked at length about how good the Mavericks can be this season with Shawn Marion joining Dirk Nowitzki , Jason Kidd and, eventually, Josh Howard.

It's just one game, but one a lot of Dallas Mavericks fans thought they could win. Dirk takes 25 shots from the field and 13 free throw attempts and scores 34 points, more than Shawn Marion and Jason Terry combined. The Wizards had more rebounds, more assists, a better shooting percentage and a better free-throw percentage.
