So it seems the new trend for NBA superstars is to abandon their teams to join forces in hopes of creating a star studded group elsewhere.  Chris Paul hopes to do the same, as he prepares for his Monday meeting with the New Orleans Hornets brass.

LeBron James has apparently convinced Paul to demand a trade.  Well it won’t be that easy.

The Hornets’ management is prepared to respond to Paul and agent Leon Rose’s demands with a “Thanks, but no thanks.”

The Hornets are walking into Monday’s meeting fully expecting to hear their star player express concern and unhappiness with the direction of the team and possibly a trade request.

But as of yesterday morning the Hornets, under new General Manager Dell Demps, are turning away team’s inquiries regarding Chris Paul’s availability and are telling teams this is not something they are going to revisit anytime soon.

Sources near the thought process say that even if Chris begs out of New Orleans, there is a very strong chance the team is not moving him.

Sources said that the Hornets want all of their players to be happy and motivated, but in Chris’ case he is far too valuable to the franchise to simply “dump” because he’s unhappy.

Unless a team surfaces with a can’t miss offer, and nothing mentioned so far comes close, their intention is to be aggressive in trade talks and trade their way into a better roster with Chris Paul, much like the Lakers did with Kobe Bryant a few years ago. – Hoopsworld.com

I really, really hope the Hornets take a stand against Paul and his arrogant posse.  If Paul wasn’t happy, maybe he shouldn’t have signed the four year, $68 million extension two years ago.  If they do trade him, I hope it’s to Orlando so one way or the other, an egomaniac star gets shunned from the NBA Finals – be it LBJ or Paul.

  • I thought Paul had more class than that.
  • Most of us did. I hope the ripple effect of the Miami threesome doesn't lead to more of what we're seeing now with Paul.
