They DO have a lot of young talent. But if the final year of Dave Roberts' awful 3-year $18 Million contract prevents exciting young speedsters like Fred Lewis and Rajai Davis from seeing action in the outfield (same goes with Ray Durham keeping Eugenio Velez on the bench), Giants fans will be very disappointed. What about just buying out the contracts of Roberts and Durham and giving these younger players a chance? NBA teams do this all the time. Hell, college athletic departments do it. Apparently, Sabean and company do not like any of these above mentioned prospects or they wouldn't have dished out $60 Million for Aaron Rowand. This article says 81-81, but I cannot see this team scoring enough runs. I think a maximum of 75 wins is more probable. My prediction 72-89, last in the NL West.

I'm afraid I will have to agree with you mr. bomb dropper. It probably won't be pretty.

75 wins would be a best case scenario. I think this year we be as messy as the last and I feel sorry for some of our starting rotation on the mound. They're in for a hard season with no support from the batting.

Matt Cain is the best losing pitcher in the game today. Man i feel sorry for him for being on the Giants right now.

Cain, Zito, Lincecum, Lowry, et al.

The Giants should have agreed, in the off-season, to trade TIM LINCECUM (photo) to Toronto for budding star OF Alex Rios, around whom they could have rebuilt. Now, this looks more like "Aaron Rowand and the miscellaneous"...

I really do like the Giants chances this year. They have the pitching to stay in contention and as we all saw last year with the Diamondbacks, that's all you need. Granted the NL West is loaded with starting pitching on each team, but I think the major factor will be the lack of a Barry Bonds media filled locker room. Also the addition of Aaron Rowand, who will get in guys faces to play hard, will go over much better than having a non hustling superstar who his teammates didn't like in the clubhouse.

It will be easier to root for them no doubt.

yeah this team going .500 would be surprising. Giants pitching is amazingly good, but you got to have some kind of power hitter, whose yours? Ray Durham? And don't expect the same numbers from Aaron Rowand. He had a career year last season and I mean career year .....in a contract year......go figure. Will they be scrappy? Yes. Will Rowand be a good leader? Yes. Will it matter? No. They just aren't good enough, they won't be an "easy" win all the time, but they will be beaten more time then they win that's for sure.

Can't argue with any of that... unfortunately! LOL.
