For the second straight game, the Celtics squared off against a recent trade partner, last night facing the Orlando Magic. Glen Davis and Von Wafer were swapped for Brandon Bass before last season by Danny Ainge. In a move that most Celtic’s fans can unanimously agree was a positive move for the future of the Celtics, it also appears to be a good move for Big Baby (via The Orlando Sentinel).“Doc is more of a military-minded type of guy,” Davis said. “Jacque is more of a Gandhi type of guy: soft but powerful. Doc is more of a ‘get-the-job-done’ [person]. Jacque Vaughn is more of a guy who’ll ask you, ‘What’ll make you feel comfortable to get the job done?’“I think that’s different with players, but sometimes I think my system and the way I feel and the way I function, I feel like I function better in Jacque’s system. Doc wasn’t the type of guy to pat you on your back and say, ‘Good job, man.’ He’s more like, ‘All right, move on.’“In a way, that’s positive. But som

What Rondo has done so far this season has been nothing short of incredible
By now it's pretty well known that Rajon Rondo is on a historic run in the assist department. In fact, if Rondo can pick up ten helpers tonight, it will mark the 37th consecutive game he has done so, tying him with John Stockton for the 2nd longest streak in NBA history. Impressive, but also not breaking...
Ouch Paul, very ouch. One of the worst crossover broken ankles I've seen in a very long time. Jameer Nelson made a little head fake on Paul last night and Pierce bit hard, really hard. He fell strait backwards and his right leg bent behind him and got trapped under his body. Pierce would stay in the game and end up dropping 23 points (Jameer had 20.) The Celtics also...
Comcast Sportsnet New England produced the above segment, where they asked some of the Boston Celtics players who they are often mistaken for (starts at about 1 minute into the video). Rajon Rondo says that people have mistaken him for Chris Tucker, while Jason Terry has been mistaken for Steve Urkel.
But some of the players have been mistaken for other Celtics players, including...
Courtney Lee is shooting 60% from 16-23 ft.
The Celtics are struggling defensively so far this season, allowing 101.1 points per game (last year they gave up just 89.3 PPG). In fact, it's so bad that the team's home page currently features an article entitled "Are the Celts Experiencing an Identity Crisis?"
However, the offense is picking up some of the slack...

Some notes from today's practice courtesy of Twitter.
Both Kris Joseph and Fab Melo were present at practice today. Kris was on the court with the team but Fab was there to work out and to observe. Fab didn't practice with the team because Doc didn't want reps taken away from other bigs. Neither has been called up but just in for practice and will return to Maine...
Paul Pierce has done this a million times. Early in games, late in games, in the middle, it does not matter when. Pierce knows exactly how to finish things off and how to brush off any failures. When he stepped into a wide-open 3-pointer with 2:10 left in overtime to break a 108-108 tie, it was old hat for him.
For the Magic, it is not quite second nature to win these close games...

Boston Celtics (7-6) vs. Orlando Magic (5-7)
Glen Davis has been looking forward to this game for a while now. Not only are the Magic in the midst of a five-game home stand, one that could very well set their season in one direction or another. OK, maybe most people expect it to go south, but the Magic have to play the games and have a chance to get into the Playoff...

I have already written twice about how Celtics players who were seriously injured last year were on their path to an impressive return. I might have cursed Green after the piece I wrote following his preseason performance, yet my take on Wilcox was apparently spot on. I've hence decided to roll the dice on Bradley as well, inspired by Jessica Camerato's article on him.
