A Different Knee A New Problem For Andrew Bynum

Posted February 01, 2009 on me31blog's Blog:

Hopes of a championship were rising rapidly in the minds of Lakers fans all around the world. He was playing his best basketball ever averaging 26.2 points, 14 rebounds, and 3.2 blocks per game over the last 5 games. He was looking sharp early on 7 points in just 4 minutes until Laker SG Kobe Bryant drived hard to the whole fell over and collided with some player knee unfortunately for Kobe, the Lakers, Lakers fans, and the man who had just recovered it was indeed Andrew Bynum who went down to the floor shrieking in pain as he held his right knee. It was Dejavu all over again,it was January last year when Bynum got hurt last year, He was having his best month ever this time last year, he was playing the Grizzlies last year when his injury happened averaging 17.2 points and 12 rebounds in January of last year., and his knee snapped back in almost the same way fortunately for the 21 year old center it was the only thing opposite his knee. From what I saw it looked like a hyperextension which is what happened to his knee last year. That being said Andrew Bynum said the injury was not as bad as last year. Reported by the Los Angeles times Bynum said, "I didn't hear any pops," he said as he leaned on a long black crutch in front of his locker. "It's much better than last year. Last year, I wasn't able to put any pressure on it or walk or anything like that. I really don't need the crutch, but they just want me on it just to keep the weight off of it."

Things do look alot more hopeful that he will return this season unlike last season where the Lakers really missed Bynum's presence against the Champion Boston Celtics last season. Looks like its gonna be another 20 games of Pau Gasoft and the always Unpredictable Lamar Odom, but hopefully they will learn that this time there is no room to be soft. They weren't the most physical team with Bynum and without Bynum they might even be the least physical team in the league. They will miss his presence and we will really see this time without Bynum how we would match up to the champs and the cavs as we will be seeing them on this current road trip.

If all goes well bynum should b back with around 15 games to spare. Though the Los Angeles Lakers would not comment on there estimated time table for Bynum to get back all though as Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times stated Sprained Knees generally take up to six weeks to heal. I have tickets to a Laker game in March on the 27th against the Nets hopefully he'll be posting up against Brooke Lopez and maybe just like last year when we got Pau Gasol and his first game was against the Nets hopefully Bynum's first game will be against or before the Nets game.

Don't get me wrong I don't hate Pau Gasol I love him he's one of the most talented players in the league, but his game isn't exactly built on power. Odom is one of the most all around gifted players in the league but you never know what your gonna get from him much like Forrest Gump and his chocolates, well indeed, Odom is like a box of chocolates you never know what your gonna get.

Its time for the MVP to step it up to his MVP level and start to become the Black Mamba. Something more positive to look at is that we have Trevor Ariza this time unlike last time and if he the defensive specialists that he is can perform above any other point in his career we could keep winning. We can hope we can pray but its all about Bynum. My thoughts are with you, your family and the Lakers Andrew Bynum. Get better your physical presence, your dominating defense, your offensive post scoring threat, and your heart will be missed.

Let's All Hope It's Less Than 20 Games, Go Get Em Lakers, The Countdown Till The Big Man's Return Begins.
