Rick Adelman made certain to point out that he has primarily fond memories of his time as the coach of the Rockets and that he enjoyed the players and staff members of the organization. But Adelman also wanted to make another point. The current coach of the Timberwolves indicated that he was aggravated by remarks from Rockets owner Les Alexander about communication between the owner and the coach. Adelman, who coached the Rockets from 2007-11 made his remarks prior to the Rockets-Timberwolves game Monday night at Toyota Center. When Adelman was asked about his relationship with Alexander currently, he replied, "I'm still waiting for that phone call he said he made to me every year because I never got one. I don't know where that came from, unless he was calling another Rick." Asked to expound, Adelman said he was making light of remarks by Alexander but went on to explain: "He said he used to call me three or four times a year and I justit never happened. When you leave a place, there's reasons why you leave. There's reasons why you're not there. "I chose not to accept an extension that they offered me. I saw all this stuff about how I never listened to him. I'm not real smart but I'm going to listen to my boss. That just kind of turned me the wrong way but this was a great place to work and I had a lot of fun." It should be noted that Alexander did not specifically claim that he called Adelman multiple times during the season. Instead, a published report last summer insinuated that such was the case. Adelman took the Timberwolves job in September. Monday night he said he recalled his time in Houston favorably. "The people who work here (in Houston) are great people," Adelman said. "That's the thing I enjoyed more than anything else. The people are really nice. You can look at the basketball end of it all you want but the time we lived hereit was terrific."
