The Mavs have already added two power forwards who will play some center this summer. They were apparently willing to also make room on the roster for Leon Powe, but the ex-Celtic banger opted to sign with Cleveland.
Agent Aaron Goodwin told the Associated Press that the Mavs, Lakers and Heat were among other teams to show interest in Powe, who won't be available until midseason after undergoing surgery to repair a torn ACL in his left knee.
Powe a two-year deal for the league minimum. The second year is a team option. Drew Gooden and Tim Thomas signed one-year deals with the Mavs.
Had Powe signed a similar deal with the Mavs, it might have made it easier for the Mavs to deal Gooden during the window when his value is the highest.
