The Wizards were M.I.A. from this weekend’s All-star festivities. Aside from John Wall, no Wizards were invited to participate in any of the weekend events.

I’m sure Andray Blatche went to an All-Star party or two. I kid.

There was no Nick ‘Swaggy P’ Young in the 3 point contest, even though he’s tailored made for the contest. There was no JaVale ‘Pierre’ McGee in the dunk contest, even though he clearly won the event last year. John Wall participated in the Skills Challenge and the Rising Stars game and that was the extent of the Wizards participation.

Part of the dearth of Wizards at the break can be attributed to the 7-26 record but I believe a large part of the absence can be blamed on the Wizard’s negative reputation around the league.

The Wizards have become the laughable knuckleheads, and have received “Oh, those guys” status. John Wall was picked 12th in the Rising Stars challenge. This is the #1 overall pick from a year ago.

Nick Young didn’t get a three point contest invite even after Joe Johnson went down with injury. No one even talks about the fact that JaVale McGee was robbed of the dunk contest last year and should be in every dunk contest.

I can’t help but feel a pang in my heart when I see John Wall rubbing elbows with the other stars in the league. Granted it’s the All-star game where good times are aplenty, but during his two events this weekend he looked happier than I’ve seen him look all season. This pains me because it’s becoming clearer to me each day that Wall will not stick around with this team as currently constructed.

Now that the All-Star game is over the next date I have circled on my calendar is March 15th, that’s the trade deadline.
