Back in September the Wall Street Journal dropped a real estate news nugget that Alonzo Mourning was trying to unload his Coral Gables mansion. Guess that Florida millionaire mansion market isn’t moving very well because ‘Zo is still waiting on an idiot to drop $14,500,000 on this place. What is Mourning doing with 13k sq. ft.? Housing Shawn Kemp’s kids? The Heat legend made $144,000,000 in his career so this mortgage was possible. Why sell now? The money drying up? Kemp’s kids ready to get out on their own?
Mr. and Mrs. Mourning, who bought the home in 2005, are selling because they’re looking to downsize, says William Meyersohn of Coldwell Banker Previews International.
Downsize? That’s what 58-year-olds do when the last one leaves for Ole Miss. That’s what people do when 3,200 sq. ft. is just too many rooms to clean. Exactly what does Mourning downsize to? Something that doesn’t require it’s own plumbing crew. (8.5 bathrooms.) jQuery(function($){$("a img.gallery-wall-fade").hover(function(){$(this).stop().animate({opacity:.5},{queue:false,duration:400});},function(){$(this).stop().animate({opacity:1},{queue:false,duration:400});});}); Anyway, Zo has had the pad on the market for over a year. We suggest ofering $13.5 and finding out how desperate he is to unload. Mourning’s Elbow Room Highlights: • 8 beds, 8.5 baths • $210,000 a year in taxes! • Marble floors • Elevator • Maid quarters • Boat slip • Ocean views Price: $14,500,000 Mortgage: $80,000 per month (with 20% down, includes taxes) [Buy Alonzo Mourning's House - Coldwell Banker]
