Andre Drummond played just eight minutes in the Pistons' loss to the New York Knicks on Monday. And it wasn't because the rookie was getting jerked around by coach Lawrence Frank.
Drummond left the game with a sore back, Pistons beat writer Keith Langlois reported and didn't return. No word on the severity. The ex-UConn Huskie made just 1-of-6 shots and missed both of his free throws to end the night with two points, five rebounds, a steal and a block.
Andre Drummond has a sore back, I'm told, and will not return tonight.

Metta World Peace and the city of Detroit do not get along. During the second quarter of the Lakers’ 98-97 win over Detroit on Sunday, World Peace and Pistons guard Brandon Knight got tangled up while fighting for position as Pau Gasol went for a shot. As the two continued to grapple following the play, World Peace gave the second-year guard an uppercut, although it wasn’t...
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. When Andre Drummond really figures out the NBA, look out.
After an 0-for-3 scoreless first half with just two rebounds and two blocks in nine minutes, Drummond finished with nine points, 11 rebounds two steals and four blocks in a 98-97 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers Sunday at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

Jose Calderon has his papers in order and is ready to go.
The Pistons announced Monday afternoon that Calderon has gotten his work-permit issues fixed -- as a Spanish citizen, he needed a different set of papers to play for an American team than he had needed to play for Toronto. The team expects Calderon to play tonight against the Knicks.
Calderon was acquired last week as part...
Metta World Peace or the guy formerly known as Ron Artest is as crafty a guy you’ll ever meet, especially when it involves physical and borderline dirty play.
Yesterday during the Lakers win over the Pistons, World Peace and Piston point guard Brandon Knight got tangled up battling for position.
During the little dust-up, Knight used a forearm on World Peace who didn’t like that...
Metta World Peace was called for his first flagrant foul of the season (Flagrant 1) after a tussle with Brandon Knight of the Detroit Pistons on Sunday. In the video, MWP can clearly be seen sneaking in an unnecessary jab to Knight’s face – which the Pistons’ guard wants reviewed by the league.
According to ESPN:
“The play needs to be reviewed because he definitely threw...
Detroit Pistons guard Brandon Knight claimed he was punched by Los Angeles Lakers forward Metta World Peace during Sunday's game. World Peace was hit with a flagrant foul 1 after getting tangled up with Knight during a game the Lakers won 98-97. But Knight suggested the penalty should be more severe. "The play needs to be reviewed because he definitely threw a punch...
Jose Calderon will be in a Detroit Pistons uniform for the first time Monday night on the road against the New York Knicks.
The newly acquired point guard couldn't make his Pistons debut until issues with his work visa were worked out. The problem was that Calderon is a Spanish citizen who was working on a
Canadian visa, and that wouldn't translate to the U.S.
Newly acquired Detroit Pistons guard Jose Calderon has been cleared to return to the court when the Pistons face the New York Knicks in Madison Square Garden. Calderon, who played all of his previous seven years in the NBA in Toronto, was dealt to the Pistons in the deal that sent Rudy Gay to the Raptors. The Pistons announced that Calderon would be ready Monday for his Pistons...
Jose Calderon was in the Pistons' starting lineup Monday, but his 15 points wasn't good enough to get a road win over the Knicks.
Calderon played 27 minutes in his first game for Detroit, hitting a three, grabbing a rebound and handing out three assists. While he looked good, Brandon Knight slid over to shooting guard and struggled.
Knight made just 2-of-10 shots,...
Jose Calderon won't make his Pistons debut Sunday due to visa issues. Here's the problem: Calderon is a Spanish citizen who was working on a Canadian visa. And that won't translate to the U.S. So he has to wait for his U.S. work visa to get approved.
Pistons beat writer Keith Langlois reported that Calderon is hoping for a Monday debut. But Wednesday vs. Brooklyn is...
NEW YORK (AP) -- Metta World Peace of the Los Angeles Lakers has been suspended one game for hitting the Pistons' Brandon Knight in the face.
World Peace grabbed Knight around the neck and struck him in the jaw with the knuckles of his mostly open hand. The incident happened Sunday, with 1:43 left in the first half of the Lakers' 98-97 win over the Pistons.
Lawrence Frank has told reporters that Jose Calderon will most likely start as soon as he is ready to join the lineup.
The New York Knicks handled the Detroit Pistons last night 99-85. J.R. Smith made the boring game interesting with a free throw air ball that his teammates laughed at, and a little scrimmage with kids during half time. You just never know what you're going to get with this guy, other than 16 points per game. Videos are below for a good laugh.
