Dwight Howard has left the city of angels, and with it, he’s dropping the nickname that has followed him since his days in Orlando.
According to USA Today, Howard now will be referred to as Rocket Man.
“He’s not Superman anymore. He’s Rocket Man now,” longtime Rockets broadcaster Bill Worrell said Saturday as he introduced the team’s major free agent acquisition.
When Dwight Howard announced he was shunning the Lakers and signing with the Houston Rockets, many people took this as a sign that Howard never felt comfortable in the spotlight in Los Angeles. Shaquille O’Neal, who himself played for the Lakers, was one of those who felt this way, saying that he expected Howard to sign with the Rockets, because, as Shaq put it so eloquently, it...
LeBron James picked an interesting time to try out the concept of blending in. As someone who has been crowned “The King” since he was 17 years old, LeBron is used to being noticed everywhere he goes. ESPYS host Jon Hamm took a playful shot at Dwight Howard and his decision to leave LA for Houston during his opening monologue Wednesday night. Young Rockets fan warns Shaq [The Big Lead]
Lakers have just forgot all those “Stay D12″ banners they put up, now they are acting like they will be better without him.
“The thing that cracks me up is Houston, they do the exact same thing,” D’Antoni said, laughing. “And so (Howard) is gonna go to Houston? OK, so did they talk about change there? Don’t tell me that it’s that different.”
“He’s a force and...

One can only hope the ashes have died out after the demise of this past Lakers season. Unfortunately the latest string of comments to come out of the Dwight Howard saga might have added a little gasoline to the fire.
It seems everyone lately has taken some parting shots at Howard including Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Shaquille O’Neal, and even Ice Cube. Their gripe has...
Hakeem Olajuwon at 50-years-old might be too old to lace up and play for the Rockets, but that doesn't mean he isn't willing to do all he can to bring another NBA championship back to Houston.
Olajuwon will rejoin the Rockets in an official capacity for the first time since he last played for Houston in 2001 as a mentor to the team's interior players, or in other words...
