Anthony Edwards Shows Love to Minnesota Timberwolves Legend By Wearing Iconic Accessory to Games
Jesse Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Timberwolves are experiencing a renaissance under Anthony Edwards. Thanks to Ant-Man’s incredible play as the team’s primary option and his off-court charm, he’s turned the Timberwolves which have struggled since Kevin Garnett’s departure into one of the must-watch teams in the NBA.

Like many Wolves fans, Garnett loves what is happening to the team that drafted him fifth overall in the 1995 Draft. However, his connection with the team doesn’t end with the epic moments he has provided until his departure in 2007.

The high-flying shooting guard has reportedly honored the greatest Timberwolf (as of today) by wearing his iconic accessory, and KG has sounded off his approval.

Anthony Edwards wears Kevin Garnett’s iconic finger sleeve in Minnesota Timberwolves games

It was brought to Garnett’s attention that the 22-year-old All-Star was caught wearing Garnett’s finger sleeve during a game. Since the accessory was synonymous to Garnett, many wondered if the stretch forward made the trip to Minnesota and personally give Edwards some of his collection.

He then clarified that the Timberwolves equipment room had millions of his finger sleeves in their inventory. He explained that he first used the finger sleeve to cover up an injury on his hand he sustained during his rookie season.

He said that the finger sleeve then became a part of his identity. He’s given it away to young fans during games and also flung it as a way to ward off his terrible shooting form.

Garnett stated that he’s thrilled that a young, influential player like Edwards is doing his best to bring it back to the spotlight. Ant-Man responded to Garnett’s statement that it was more his pleasure to honor Garnett that way.

The on-court tribute is a touching geture towards a player who made plenty of impact to one of the team’s most impactful players. While Garnett didn’t win anything during his time in Minnesota, he gave fans plenty of highs with his play that was ahead of its time.

However, Anthony Edwards shouldn’t take long to join Garnett in the list of top Wolves players. If he manages to give Minnesota a championship, he could even overtake Garnett in the hearts of Minnesota hoops fans.
