If you were watching yesterday’s Spurs-Grizzlies battle, you saw Antonio McDyess go down with what looked to be a nasty neck injury. Well, X-rays came back negative, and Dyess believes he’ll be back on the court in no time. Via the San Antonio Express-News: “The 15-year veteran big man went to the bench, where he was unable to close his right hand. X-rays of McDyess’ neck and shoulder were negative, relieving his worst fears. ’It was totally numb,’ he said. ‘I couldn’t feel my hand, couldn’t move it at all. I’d never experienced that. I thought I’d broke my neck or something.’ The team’s medical staff gave McDyess anti-inflammatory medication to reduce swelling. While the team doctors who accompanied the club to Memphis will make the determination on his availability, McDyess thinks he will be able to play. ‘I think I’ll be okay,” he said. ‘I hope it’s not as bad on Monday.
