A person with knowledge of the deal says Ernie Grunfeld and the Washington Wizards have agreed to a contract that will keep him as team president. The person spoke to The Associated Press on Monday night on condition of anonymity because no announcement had been made by the team. A news conference could happen as soon as Tuesday. Grunfeld's return was first reported by The Washington Post on its website. His contract is due to expire at the end of this season. The Wizards beat NBA-worst Charlotte 101-73 Monday night for their fourth consecutive victory, but they are 18-46, the league's second-worst record. Grunfeld joined the Wizards in June 2003.

The Wizards beat the Heat with this buzzer beater

The Wizards win, the Wizards win! For the absolutely dreadful Washington Wizards, last night’s game against the Miami Heat was their “championship game” since they have nothing else to play for. The Wizards caught the short-handed Heat off guard last night and beat them 86-84 on this buzzer beating lay-up from Nene. Congratulations to Washington for this huge victory...

John Wall had 16 points and 14 assists, Nene scored 18 points and Jan Vesely had 16 points on 8-for-8 shooting and the Washington Wizards handed the Charlotte Bobcats their 21st straight loss, 101-73 on Monday night. It gave the Wizards their first four-game winning streak since Dec. 9-13, 2007. The 28-point margin of victory equaled their largest in the season. The Bobcats were...

Wizards Continue Late Surge; Destroy Bobcats

Don't look now, but the Washington Wizards are the second hottest team in the league. San Antonio always takes the limelight. Let's just get this out of the way so I can go on and rant. The Wizards destroyed the Bobcats last night 101-73. John Wall looked like an NBA first-team point guard, Jan Vesely looked like the Czech Larry Bird, Kevin Seraphin continues to show why...

A Doctrine of Justification for Ernie

As many of us are aware now, Wizards general manager Ernie Grunfeld has just been inked to a contract extension. While this news comes much to the dismay of the Wizards faithful, I’m finding myself not quite as horrified about Ted Leonsis’ decision to retain the mastermind that has been behind so many years of unwatchable basketball in Washington, D.C. But before I begin to...
