Matt Barnes will miss the Los Angeles Clippers' season opener on Wednesday night while serving a one-game suspension issued by the NBA after he pleaded no contest last month to a misdemeanor for resisting, delaying or obstructing a police officer.
He was arrested in Manhattan Beach in July on suspicion of threatening a public official, which is a felony. The 32-year-old forward was arrested after an officer who was aware he had an outstanding warrant for a misdemeanor traffic violation approached him on foot.
The Los Angeles County district attorney's office chose to file a misdemeanor and it agreed to a deal on the lesser charge.
Barnes signed with the Clippers during the offseason after playing the last two seasons with the Lakers.

As a Clipper fan I take great pride in the fact that my once small market Clippers are finally capable of competing with the large market teams in the league, such as the Lakers and Heat. For the past three seasons the Clippers have been slowly and methodically building a roster with the potential to make a deep playoff run. The motto is simple: we have our superstars (Paul &...

While it's not surprising that a Blake Griffin dunk has made this website....this might be his first professional coast-to-coast slam to make it on Outside the Boxscore. Watch as Griffin corrals the rebound on the other side of the court and takes the distance for the two-handed slam against the Memphis Grizzlies:
The beef between Zach Randolph and Blake Griffin that was evident during the playoffs last season carried over into the 2012-2013 season. Randolph and Griffin tussled several times while going for rebounds during the season-opening game between the Los Angeles Clippers and Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday. In the play seen above, Randolph just took down Griffin during the fourth quarter...
Memphis Grizzlies forward Zach Randolph threw Los Angeles Clippers star Blake Griffin down to the ground during Wednesday night's NBA season opener for both teams at the Staples Center.
It happened after Chris Paul hit a jumper with 4:18 left in the fourth quarter, where Randolph grabbed Griffin from behind and pulled him down to the ground. Although Randolph and Griffin...
Tweet There was a full lineup of NBA action Wednesday with highlights galore. One that stood out was new Clipper guard Jamal Crawford mixing up Rudy Gay with a nice handle before causing Gay to fall: Crawford even hit the shot for good measure. The Clippers cruised to the 101-92 victory with Crawford pouring in [...]
