Today is Thanksgiving thus marking the beginning of the holiday season, a time of reflection and appreciation for the things this year has brought.  As a San Antonio Spurs fan, I am most thankful for Tim Duncan.  The first 11 games of the season has served as a reminder of the brilliance of Duncan.  His numbers are up across the board, and he's served as the team's anchor on both ends of the court this season. Right now, Duncan is averaging 18 points, ten rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game.  He's also playing 30.5 minutes a game, up slightly from the last two seasons.  His Player Efficiency Rating (PER) is 27.53, which would be the highest of his career if he sustains it through the season.  He's scored in double figures every game so far.  He's fourth in the league in blocks and overall the Spurs are dreadful on defense when he's off the court. In short, Duncan is playing like a top ten player in the league and should be considered a candidate for Western ...

Video: 'Magic' Duncan goes coast-to-coast vs. Clippers

For a 6-11 power forward in the NBA, San Antonio Spurs' Tim Duncan sure can handle the ball on the fast break. During last night's loss to the Clippers, TD provided the fans something to cheer about despite how the game ended. Check out "Magic" Duncan (as the Spurs' TV announcer says in the video below) taking the ball end-to-end with a little stutter move...

Bonner's day after Thanksgiving treat

One of the things you can always count on Thanksgiving bringing, aside from a food come, is leftovers. We all have our classic favorites each year, but with Spurs forward Matt Bonner on the road, he says the team dinner never includes leftovers so he might have to venture elsewhere for his favorite turkey sandwhich. Asked what would normally be part of his leftover turkey...

The Garden Report: Parker and Duncan Lead Spurs Past Celtics with 36 Points Combined

The San Antonio Spurs relied on their veterans Tony Parker and Tim Duncan and on a strong inside game to beat the Celtics 112-100. This pushes the Celtics to 6-6 in the season and the Spurs to 9-3 and the 2nd place in the West, tied with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Rajon Rondo recorded 15 [...]

Pop calls Spurs 'an embarrassment'

The San Antonio Spurs only have three losses on the year but two of them came at the hands of the Los Angeles Clippers. The team is 4-3 in their last seven games after starting the season 4-0. Add up all the struggles and tack on some injuries and it appears frustration is starting to set in. It’s way too early in the season to panic, but I’m sure Coach Popovich wants to...

Preview: San Antonio Spurs vs. Boston Celtics

The 8-3 San Antonio Spurs are coming into town and playing inthe Garden tonight at 7:30.  I continue to consider the Spurs the ‘Celtics of the West’ as they both seem to have an aging core, a great head coach, and strong bench scoring.  They are one spot ahead of the Celtics in assists per game (2nd to the Celtics’ 3rd), and both teams are having trouble rebounding the ball...

Spurs upend Celtics behind Parker's 26 points

BOSTON -- Spurs coach Gregg Popovich was waiting for Tony Parker to break out. That's just what Parker did Wednesday night, leading San Antonio to a 112-100 victory over the Celtics in the opener of the Spurs' five-game road trip. "This was his best game in a while," Popovich said after Parker scored 26 points and dished out six assists in the road win. "...

Gameday Q&A: Spurs vs. Celtics

The San Antonio Spurs (8-2) will visit the TD Garden tonight as they will face off against the Boston Celtics (6-5) in Boston. The Spurs are coming off an loss to the Clippers described as "embarrassing" by head coach Gregg Popovich while the Celtics are coming off a big loss to the Pistons, however, Boston has not played since Sunday and will be fresh for this game...

Parker leads Spurs past Pacers

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Tony Parker scored 33 points and the San Antonio Spurs erased a 17-point deficit on their way to a 104-97 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Friday night. Tim Duncan had 22 points for San Antonio (10-3), which closed the game with a 17-2 run. Manu Ginobili scored 19. David West scored 22 for the Pacers (6-8), and Paul George finished with 15. Leandro Barbosa breaks Tony Parker's ankles (Video)

We here at That NBA Lottery Pick love posting videos of NBA players getting their ankles broken and this week, the victim was San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker.Watch as Boston's Leandro Barbosa crosses him over and sent Tony-P to the court:

Tough matchups loom; C's in danger of falling behind the pack

The Spurs and Thunder are a combined 16-6.  Over the next three days Boston will host a pair of 8-3 Western Conference powers, San Antonio and Oklahoma City.  Last season the Spurs posted a league best 50-16 (tied with Chicago) regular season record, while the Thunder went 47-19 and then reached the NBA Finals.  There's a decent chance the 6-5 Celtics could wake up Saturday...

Boston and San Antonio: Two of a Kind

Celtics Spurs: one of my favorite NBA match-ups. One that features the two preeminent big men of the new millennia as well as two of the league's best coaches. But the similarities don't end there. Both teams feature a trio of All-Stars who have sacrificed scoring, playing time, and salary for the good of their perspective teams. Doc Rivers has praised Gregg Popovich on...

Celtics Fall To Spurs 112-100

The Celtics took the court against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night, in a battle of two of the oldies in Boston. The Spurs came in 8-3, losing 2 of its last 3 games, while Boston came in 6-5, coming off a disappointing loss to Detroit on Sunday. The two veteran teams made it interesting up until about 5 minutes left, when San Antonio really started to pull away. Tony Parker...

Giving Thanks...

With today being Thanksgiving in the United States, we decided to give our team the day off. Since it is Turkey Day, we are listing the ways we are thankful, with a Spurs twist, in lieu of some of the latest Spurs new and features. Michael De Leon Today I’m giving thanks to Tim Duncan’s punisher knee brace for supporting Tim during an All-Star caliber year as of yet....
