Two of the league's young guns felt that they've earned All-Star consideration. Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

Washington’s John Wall is going to be out for at least 6-to-8 weeks. But that means the NBA All-Star game needs a replacement. And in Andre Drummond, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver would find him. But Philly’s Ben Simmons and Boston’s Jaylen Brown aren’t on board.

Meanwhile, Jaylen Brown…

On the season, Drummond is averaging 14.8 points, a league-high 15.3 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 1.4 blocks per game. For what it’s worth, his selection is at least understandable. But when he’s replacing a guard like John Wall? Perhaps there’s room for a gripe.

Ben Simmons, on the other hand, is averaging 16.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, 7.3 assists and 1.8 steals. On the surface, Simmons is an easy choice. But when you dig a little deeper? Well, Simmons is still an easy choice. So what about Jaylen Brown?

Boston’s second-year pro is averaging 14.1 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.1 steals. The Pistons, of course, are struggling. They are 2-8 over their last 10, but are just two games out of the playoff picture. Right now, that final spot belongs to Simmons and the 76ers. But when it comes to the All-Star Game, this is more of a difficult decision than these two are letting on.

But that doesn’t take away from the drama, does it?

QUIZ: Name every member of the 1972-73 Philadelphia 76ers

Largely considered one of the worst teams in NBA history, the 1972-73 Philadelphia 76ers finished their season 9-73, which is the lowest win total in an 82-game NBA season. Can you name all 19 players on the roster?
