TORONTO -- The Philadelphia 76ers were playing for the second night in a row but they made the Toronto Raptors look like the tired team on Saturday at Air Canada Centre. Powered by a dominating second quarter in which they outscored the Raptors by 25 points, the 76ers earned a 93-83 victory over Toronto before an announced crowd of 19,800. The win that gave the Sixers a 3-0 trip followed Friday's victory over the Boston Celtics while the Raptors had not played since Wednesday's loss at Dallas. "I told you before the game if we were going to win this game our bench was going to have to help us because we were very tired," Sixers head coach Doug Collins said. And that is what happened. The Sixers spread out their scoring. Thaddeus Young, Jrue Holiday and Nick Young scored 16 points each. Dorell Wright scored 15 and Spencer Hawes scored 12 with 11 rebounds. Nick Young, who was a big factor in Philadelphia's second-quarter splurge, did his damage after co...

Injured Raptors Lowry, Fields out for 76ers' game

The Toronto Raptors will be without injured point guard Kyle Lowry and forward Landry Fields for Saturday night's home game against the Philadelphia 76ers. Lowry left Tuesday's loss to Oklahoma City with a sprained right ankle and also missed Wednesday's game in Dallas. Fields has a tender right wrist and saw a specialist this week. He's to have a second opinion...

Amir Johnson-Jose Calderon Beat Clock With Alley-Oop in Raptors Loss to Sixers

You don’t see many buzzer beating alley oops. This one didn’t win the game for the Raptors, and it didn’t even come at the end of the game, but with three seconds left in the third quarter, Jose Calderon drove to the basket and chucked the ball back to Amir Johnson just in time for an impressive alley-oop. Johnson slammed the ball home just in time to beat the clock from hitting...

The Opposition: 3 reasons to like and dislike the Philadelphia 76ers

I hope KG has words for Spencer Hawes about his hairstyle.I’m sure you’ve heard people saying that this is a rematch of the second round matchup last year. And I guess it kind of is, but a whole bunch of different pieces are in place for both teams, so previewing and predicting this thing is kind of useless. As such, I’ll give you a different bit of uselessness: three irrational...

Vince Carter Opens the Possibility of Returning to Toronto

(Photo by Fernando Medina/NBAE via Getty Images) Although it may be an issue tucked away deep in the closets of many Raptors fans, ask any fan about Vince Carter and prepare to face the music. Pure venom comes spewing their mouths and only the bad memories remain. Vince Carter leaving for the Nets is on the same playing field as LeBron’s Decision in most parts of Ontario. Carter...

76ers-Raptors Preview

After leaning on their defense at the start of this season, the Philadelphia 76ers may have gotten just the breakthrough scoring performances they've needed last time out. The 76ers will try to build on that showing in Saturday night's visit to the Toronto Raptors, who are hoping to have leading scorer and Philadelphia native Kyle Lowry back in the lineup. Philadelphia...

Celtics can’t overcome slow start, fall to 76ers 106-100

The Philadelphia 76ers entered tonight averaging 83 points per game. “Never fear!” said the Celtics, who allowed them to score 106 points and crush their season high of 88. The Celtics had a horrendous second quarter (which I should be used to by now) where they were outscored 34-25 and spent the rest of the game playing catch-up. While the Celtics outscored the 76ers in...
