Australian guard Patty Mills is a free agent after the Portland Trail Blazers renounced their rights to him.
Mills played for the Blazers last season, but during the lockout went to play with the Xinjiang Flying Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association. He was cut by the Flying Tigers earlier this year because of a hamstring injury, and FIBA cleared him to return to the NBA earlier this month.
Mills was unable to sign with a team until the Blazers renounced his rights on Saturday.
Mills, who played at St. Mary's in California, grabbed international attention when he scored 20 points for Australia in the 2008 Olympics against the gold medal-winning U.S. team.
He was drafted by the Blazers in 2009 and has played 74 NBA games.

The Portland Trail Blazers are moving on a day after making major changes.
The Trail Blazers fired coach Nate McMillan, waived former No. 1 selection Greg Oden and traded Marcus Camby and Gerald Wallace on Thursday.
Interim head coach Kaleb Canales, who is the youngest coach in the NBA at age 34, is still going through his same routine.

After five seasons in which he only played 82 games, Greg Oden’s time with the Portland Trail Blazers is up. The Blazers officially waived Oden yesterday to make room for their new trade acquisitions: Jonny Flynn, Mehmet Okur, Shawne Williams and Hasheem Thabeet.
It’s been a rough five years for the Blazers. After drafting Oden with the number one overall pick in the 2007 draft...

LaMarcus Aldridge scored 21 points and Wesley Matthews added 18 and the revamped Portland Trail Blazers defeated the Chicago Bulls 100-89 on Friday.
After an emotional victory against the Heat without Derrick Rose on Wednesday, the Bulls were unable to win a second straight game with the reigning MVP sitting on the bench with a strained groin.

During the Portland Trailblazers/Chicago Bulls match up, Blazers star Joel Przybilla got into it with Bulls star Carlos Boozer. It appears that Przybilla and Boozer got caught up while everyone was trying to grab the lose basketball. After everyone had gotten up from the floor, Przybilla and Boozer began talking smack to each other. Before both teams back to their benches... Przybilla...
Joel Przybilla channeled his best 3rd grader impression during a skirmish Saturday night with the Chicago Bulls. Carlos Boozer and Przybilla started jawing at each other and you can clearly lip read his message to Boozer: “Meet me after, meet me after, I’ll f*ck you up.” Joel is a large fella, but I think Boozer would be able to steal his lunch money and drop him in a scrap...
This season’s Portland Trail Blazers team reminds me of a rarely-used moniker bestowed upon a loveable character in the movie Life: Cantgetright.
For fear of inducing mass suicides, I’ll avoid rehashing the laundry list of failures that have plagued the Blazers this season, and instead focus on the recent happenings of yesterday’s trade deadline. As far as activity levels...
The Portland Trail Blazers knocked off one of the best teams in the NBA in interim coach Kaleb Canales' first game at the helm.
Kicking off his career with back-to-back victories could prove even more difficult with a road game against Western Conference-leading Oklahoma City up next - even with the Thunder surprisingly struggling a bit on their own court.
The recently overhauled...

According to ESPN, the San Antonio Spurs still have an interest in veteran point guard Derek Fisher, who was bought out by the Houston Rockets.
The San Antonio Spurs, sources told Stein, have not yet ruled out pursuing Fisher because their planned signing of former Portland Trail Blazers guard Patty Mills has been held up by the fact that Portland has not yet renounced rights to...

From players to coaches, it happens too often in Portland.
