The Charlotte Bobcats are back in familiar territory - looking for a new head coach. In what's becoming a rite of spring for the struggling franchise, the Bobcats have begun the process of replacing coach Mike Dunlap, who was fired Tuesday after one season. Charlotte's next coach will be its sixth since 2007. With that type of turnover and the team's recent struggles - the Bobcats are 28-120 over the past two seasons - it might be difficult to find a quality coach to take on such a monumental task. But Bobcats president of basketball operations Rod Higgins and GM Rich Cho insist there won't be a shortage of interested candidates. ''Both our phones have been ringing off the hook,'' Cho said this week. ''I think it's an appealing situation.'' Exactly who is on the Bobcats' wish list is unclear at this point. The team said it's still compiling a list of potential candidates and no interviews have been scheduled. While ...

Time for Michael Jordan to get the Isiah Thomas treatment

Now that Michael Jordan is no longer playing and dominating in the NBA, isn’t it about time the media and/or anyone else start banging on him for his inability to lead a team from the front office? Nobody dared say anything about his Airness when he played, out of fear that they would be written off by Jordan. He was the NBA for an entire decade, and he, along with David Stern...

Mike Dunlap Fired. It’s a Shock, or is it?

The Charlotte Bobcats have fired their rookie head coach, Mike Dunlap after only one season.  He came in out of nowhere (St. John’s assistant), said the right things, started hot (7-5), didn’t freak out when things went bad, tripled the win total from the previous season and got fired. I’m not crying over this.  I [...]

Bobcats fire coach Mike Dunlap after 1 season

Mike Dunlap is one and done with the Charlotte Bobcats. The Bobcats said Tuesday they've fired Dunlap as coach after a single season. The Bobcats went 21-61 under Dunlap, finishing with the second-worst record in the NBA ahead of only the Orlando Magic. Charlotte won just seven games in the strike-shortened 2011-12 season, but tripling last year's victory total and a three...

Mike Dunlap has been fired by the Charlotte Bobcats

Well, that didn’t take very long now did it?At the time of the hiring of Mike Dunlap, I mentioned that under any other circumstance you would have to be surprised by this hiring. But when Michael Jordan is involved, nothing should surprise you.And wouldn’t you know it; Michael Jordan has made yet another move to drive that point home. That move? Firing the head coach he hired...

Charlotte Bobcats fire Mike Dunlap after just one season

It’s fair to say the Charlotte Bobcats are a colossal mess, and that designation isn’t going to change any time soon. New broke on Tuesday that the franchise will part ways with head coach Mike Dunlap after just one season, throwing the team further into turmoil. Dunlap went 21-61 in his first year on the job, guiding the Bobcats to the second-worst record in the NBA, ahead...

Charlotte Bobcats fire Mike Dunlap after one season

After just one season and 21 wins, the Charlotte Bobcats fired head coach Mike Dunlap Tuesday afternoon. The franchise will now look for its sixth coach in the past decade. Dunlap was a surprise hire for the Bobcats last offseason. He had NBa ties (Denver Nuggets, 2006-08), but hiring an assistantinterim head coach from St. John's is not the best way to inspire confidence in...

Bobcats fire Dunlap; Cavs bringing back Brown

In two rather surprising coaching moves this week, the Charlotte Bobcats have fired Mike Dunlap and the Cleveland Cavaliers are bringing back Mike Brown. Dunlap only lasted one season with the Bobcats, going 21-61, the second worst record in the league behind Orlando. Despite Charlotte’s awful performance this year, I disagree with the decision to let Dunlap go. Funny enough...
