This business of finishing the season with the worst winning percentage in NBA history is getting serious. It's hard to picture who the Bobcats can beat over their last six games. The Bobcats need one victory to have a better winning percentage than the 9-73 Philadelphia 76ers in 1972-73. But the Bobcats 7-53 in this lockout-shortened NBA season, haven't won in a franchise-record 17 consecutive games. They have blown prime opportunities the past two games against heavily depleted teams. The Celtics beat them Sunday without Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen. Monday the Hornets showed up without Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman and Emeka Okafor. Didn't matter, as the Bobcats blew an eight-point lead to lose 75-67 at home. Bobcats shooting guard Gerald Henderson said it's "absolutely" on the players' minds that they risk making dubious history. So blowing a lead against a team of the Hornets' ilk hurt. "They're a good team, but we see them as similar to us," Henderson said. "That's very frustrating." The Bobcats try to avoid an 18th loss in a row at home against the Bulls on Wednesday.
