San Antonio Spurs legend Bruce Bowen was hated by everyone who wasn't a fan of the team who's jersey he was wearing. He was a pest on defense and, even though he was respected by his peers, he was disliked for his play. From moving his arms around a player looking to pass to a hand to the face constantly, you can see he probably wasn't the first player on anyone else's Christmas list. To Spurs fans and his teammates, he was viewed as a great teammate. He was a guy who didn't ask for attention and took whatever job was asked of him from guarding the shortest fastest player to the tallest opposing player. Bowen also knows what great teammates are and knows there's a bond in a team that has to be built up to be successful. If you agree with that, then you shouldn't be too surprised about Bowen weighing in on the Rajon Rondo-Kris Humphries incident. How many guys in the league today are MORE CONCERNED with protecting a teammate, than ending the streak of a personal goal?LOVE RONDO!!! — Bruce Bowen (@Bowen12) November 29, 2012 Kevin Garnett may not be the most popular or well liked player in the league or to its fans, but he's beloved among his teammates and fans who bleed Celtic green. He is to the Boston Celtics what any San Antonio Spur is to his team: a player you hate on an opposing team but one that you'd love on yours, so you'd expect one of his teammates to stick up for him even for a mind touch foul. The Celtics may not be a young team, but they are a team with new pieces that are supposed to be major players in their success this year. The incident cost Rondo two games, but he knows the benefits of the camaraderie that will develop from the team will be worth it. Now the new Celtics know they have someone sticking up for them during any situation and it will pay off, especially in the playoffs. Rondo knew this and so did Bruce.

Gregg Popovich politely calls out Charles Barkley during sideline interview (Video)

TNT basketball analyst Charles Barkley conducted a quick sideline interview with San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich before the start of the second quarter of Thursday night's NBA game against the Miami Heat. Apparently Barkley was unaware that he was only allowed to ask two questions, so when Barkley attempted to ask a third question, Popovich had to politely inform...

Gregg Popovich Cuts Off Charles Barkley During Interview (Video)

Sir Charles Barkley asked one to many questions to Spurs coach Gregg Popovich last night and Big Poppa cut him off.  Charles is only suppose to have 2 questions per interview, and he went for three and Pop had no time for him.  Check out the video below. What a beast Pop is.  He caught some flack before this game for not bringing Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker...

Spurs to play without Duncan, Parker, Ginobili

MIAMI (AP) -- San Antonio is playing at Miami on Thursday night without Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and Danny Green, who were sent home by Spurs coach Gregg Popovich to rest. Duncan, Parker and Green are starters. Ginobili is the team's top reserve. Popovich says the decision was made when he saw the schedule, and that it had nothing to do with facing the Heat. Thursday...

NBA to sanction Spurs for sitting stars

NBA Commissioner David Stern says the San Antonio Spurs will be hit with ''substantial sanctions'' for their decision to send four regulars home before their game in Miami on Thursday night. Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and Danny Green were sent home by San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich, who cited a desire to get them rest at the end of a long road trip...

Tim Duncan, Tony Parker Pose With Guns to Head of ‘Joey Crawford’ on Halloween (Photo)

A little mischief — if that’s what this is — could cause a lot of trouble. Spurs teammates Tim Duncan and Tony Parker used the recent Halloween holiday to show their feelings about NBA referee Joey Crawford, a much-criticized figure in the league’s officiating landscape. In a photo that surfaced in the last couple of days on Reddit, Duncan and Parker can be seen holding guns...

Is David Stern Fair to Punish the Spurs?

(Image Source: Photobucket) The San Antonio Spurs receiving the “substantial sanctions” statement from David Stern last night seems puzzling. With just over a year until retirement, Stern continues to lay down the law by making slightly questionable decisions which keep adding up. The Spurs resting Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobli, and Danny Green against Miami rattled...

Heat trying to be like the Spurs

Last night in Miami, the San Antonio Spurs showed why they’ve been one of the top teams in the NBA consistently over the last 15 years: depth. Even without Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker, Danny Green, Kawhi Leonard and Stephen Jackson, the Spurs were able to hang with the defending champs for all four quarters. The Spurs have set a mold that all NBA teams should strive...

NBA fines Spurs $250,000

The NBA fined the San Antonio Spurs $250,000 on Friday for leaving four players home to rest before their game Thursday night in Miami against the Heat. Commissioner David Stern said in a statement that the Spurs cheated the league and the fans by not bringing Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, Danny Green and Tony Parker along for the finale of their six-game road trip. "The result...

Ginobili Surprised By Commotion

Everyone has their opinions on David Stern fining the San Antonio Spurs for sending home their stars, even one of their stars. Manu Ginobili typed up a great story on explaining on CanchaLlena.com how cautious Gregg Popovich has been with him and the team and that he's done this very action before with no consequences. Manu went to state that Pop had asked him if he wanted...

Video: Barkley interviews Popovich

When San Antonio Spurs' Gregg Popovich wasn't drawing the wrath of NBA Commissioner David Stern during last night's Spurs-Heat clash, Pop was being his usual self during the in-game interviews with TNT. Except this time, he was being asked the questions by Charles Barkley which you knew meant instant comedy. "The Chuckster" did time as the sideline reporter...

Popovich, Stern both slip up in Starter-gate

MIAMI Had the Miami Heat lost Thursday, perhaps David Stern would have fined them. Or maybe somebody else would have. Itd have been embarrassing, Heat center Chris Bosh said of possibly falling to Spurs Lite. The coaches probably would have fined us. In a very bizarre night in the NBA, the Heat prevented it from becoming even more odd by defeating undermanned San Antonio 105...

Spurs 99, Grizzlies 95, OT

Tony Parker scored 30 points, Tim Duncan had 27 points and 15 rebounds, and the San Antonio Spurs shook off a ''disappointing'' $250,000 fine by the NBA to beat the Memphis Grizzlies 99-95 in overtime Saturday night. Coach Gregg Popovich said before the win he doesn't know if the Spurs will appeal the NBA's stiff penalty for sending Duncan, Parker and two...

Spurs center Boris Diaw commits two charges on one play against Heat (Video)

San Antonio Spurs center Boris Diaw committed two charges on the same play during the second quarter of Thursday night's NBA game against the Miami Heat. Officials did not call the first charge that Diaw committed against Chris Bosh, but had to call the second one when Diaw virtually ran over Udonis Haslem in the paint. TNT analyst Charles Barkley joked "This...

Spurs need extra quarter to overcome third quarter setback, hand Grizzlies third loss

For a game taking place on the first of December, it sure felt a lot like the first of May and that had nothing to do with the warm weather in San Antonio. “It was definitely playoff intensity,” Spurs guard Tony Parker said after scoring 30 points in a game that went to overtime against the team with the NBA’s best record. It took an extra period, but the San Antonio...

Popovich Looking Out For His Team, NBA Mad...

((HT: WOAI-TV)) Everyone, including the Commissioner of the NBA David Stern, seems to be getting bent out of shape about the idea of San Antonio Spurs head coach looking out for his team come June... Except here at the HQ... We were listening to the very sly, sports talk radio network late last night when their overnight host was throwing "bricks" at the Spurs...
