Waiting For Next Year:
The Cavaliers welcomed Dion Waiters back to the lineup in this one, but it would make little difference as Cleveland once again lost to Cavalier Kryptonite, the Toronto Raptors.
This one was close through 3 quarters, but the Raptors pulled away in the 4th quarter to snap their 11 game road losing streak. The Cavaliers were lead by Kyrie Irving’s 23 points and Anderson Varejao chipped in 22 points and 10 rebounds. The Raptors were lead by Jose Calderon’s 23 points and 4 players scored double digits off the bench.
The Cavaliers also had a brief scare when Varejao had to leave the game with a knee injury. He was able to return, though, and was diagnosed with a bruised knee.

Anderson Varejao is one of the most coveted big men in the NBA this season.
This isn’t the first time he has heard his name mentioned in trade talks — he averaged a double-double last season and nearly 10 and 10 the previous year — so he isn’t letting himself get sidetracked by an area of the game he cannot impact.
“I can’t control it,” he said prior to the Cavaliers...
Cleveland Cavaliers center Anderson Varejao missed Wednesday night's game against the Boston Celtics because of a bruised right knee.
Varejao, the NBA's leading rebounder at 14.4 per game, was injured Tuesday night against Toronto when he landed awkwardly on his right leg and crumpled to the floor in pain after being fouled late in the first quarter. He limped to the locker...
Cavaliers center Anderson Varejao will miss at least two more games with a bruised right knee.
Varejao has missed four games since hurting his knee on Dec. 18 against Toronto. The Cavs had hoped extra rest would get the NBA's leading rebounder back on the floor, but he's not ready to play. Varejao will sit out Friday's home game against Atlanta and will not travel with...

The Celtics, ranked 29th in rebounding, do have a strong interest in Cavs' Anderson Varejao, but the question is what could Celtics offer that the Cavs would want? (And don't say Jared Sullinger. Cavs didn't have an interest in him on draft night and likely still don't.) That's the trouble with trading Varejao. Teams with a strong interest...
The Celtics rebounding is bad. Really bad. So bad that Dennis Rodman could show up tomorrow in his wedding dress and be the best rebounder on the team.
The Cavaliers just so happen to have the best rebounder in the league on their roster in Anderson Varejao, and he’s available for the right price.
Enter the Celtics…. but don’t get too excited.

“The Cavs have about $10 million in cap room, making them a prime candidate to absorb salary as either a main player in a two-team trade or a facilitator in a larger deal...
On July 23, 2004, the Cleveland Cavaliers acquired Drew Gooden and Anderson Varjeao in a trade with the Orlando Magic for Tony Battie and two second round draft picks.
For the next three seasons, Gooden and Varejao were teammates in Cleveland. Not only did they share time at the power forward position specifically, they also practiced against each other on a daily basis.
Kyrie Irving claims the Cleveland Cavaliers are more assertive versus the NBA's so-called elite teams than against lesser competition.
The Boston Celtics will need to start playing considerably better in order to be known as the former.
Boston looks to avoid a fourth straight loss while Cleveland tries to end a four-game skid Wednesday night at TD Garden.

Everyone loves to see a match-up for the ages and tonight is one of them as arguably two of the best point guards in the NBA go toe-to-toe for the first time in the 2012-13 season in a Wednesday night showdown.
After missing a month due a broken left index finger, Kyrie Irving is back. His return has been incredible. In the past five games...
One day I’ll get that headline to work.Last Wednesday, With Leather dunk scientists decided that Cleveland’s Anderson Varejao faking out Dwight Howard and dunking on the rest of the Actual Lakers was the most slam dunkingest slam dunk of the week. While we struggle to properly conjugate “slam dunk,” we’ve gathered a new crop of HOT DUNKZ and ask you, the reader, to decide...
Ever since Lebron James left Cleveland the press and the attention has kind of simmered down over there. And now that Kyrie Irving got hurt (he should be back pretty shortly) there isn’t much buzz on this team other than Anderson Verajo which is a little boring (except for his hair).
So what is there to buzz about with the Cavaliers? Little did I know they had a cheerleading...

In an effort to give me an aneurysm, Doc Rivers decided to shuffle his starting lineup tonight to include the JET and Jason Collins. There was some speculation that Collins was garnering the start to try and slow down Anderson Varejao, but Varejao was held out of tonight’s game at the last minute so I proceeded to have a full-blown conniption at that point. But the Celtics beat...
