Derrick Rose played 11 minutes in Monday’s game against the New Jersey Nets before exiting with back spasms. Rose has been plagued by injury this season, already missing time with a toe problem. The back injury is far more serious and there is no timetable for his return to the Chicago Bulls.
Rose entered the game on Monday with lingering issues stemming from his back. After the start of the game, the back apparently stiffened up and Rose was lifted from the game. Derrick Rose may be the most difficult player on the planet to take off the floor, so you know the pain and injury is serious.
Tom Thibedeau was vague and would not comment further on the injury after the game. Rose will most likely not start the next two games for security purposes. There is no reason for the Bulls to rush their superstar back to action in this 66-game regular season schedule. Too many games are too close together for Rose or Chicago to risk playing him in a rush.
