The trade is done, the guys have been introduced, and now the process of moving on begins (well, maybe it begins after the Nets introduce everyone on Thursday). Now we’re starting to get a better feel for what the Celtics really got out of this deal.
I’m hoping this post can be a handy guide for fans who are trying to figure out what the C’s got as far as “assets” and how they can be used. Maybe this can help ease the pain of watching Pierce and Garnett in Brooklyn.
Asset #1: A $10.3 million trade exception
What is a trade exception? If you don’t want to drown in legalese, you can read Larry Coon’s detailed explanation in his indispensable NBA Salary Cap FAQ. But trade exceptions essentially give teams a one-year window in which to complete a trade by acquiring the difference in salary sent out.

That night in St. Louis Park still weighs heavily on Kevin Garnett's heart.
For all of the pains and tribulations the Minnesota Timberwolves franchise has endured since Garnett's departure for Boston, none, of course, compare to what struck the organization early in the morning on Saturday, May 20, 2000. It was then that teammate and fan favorite swingman Malik Sealy was...

Would you want Scal as the Celtics coach?
RT @MrTrpleDouble10: Scal said he half-jokingly called Ainge as soon as Doc was gone to ask about job. Ainge told him he was 4th on his list

Paul Pierce just took to his twitter/instagram account to thank the city of Boston for the years of support.
He also said that he would be sharing his favorite memories of Boston on his instagram account, so be sure to give him a follow there. He's already got a few more photos up.
I really don’t know where I’ve been to have missed this. Brooklyn Nets forward Mason Plumlee threw down a poster dunk last week after a spin move on Detroit Pistons guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope during the 2013 Orlando Summer League. Every time I see a white guy posterize someone my heart just soars. Too bad it was a guard.. baby steps.
Kevin Garnett has been the biggest fan of Gino Time at the TD Garden, which gets blasted over the jumbotron anytime the Celtics win a home game by a blow-out. The Boston Herald's Steve Bulpett recently learned that Gino will make an appearance in KG's tribute video, which the Celtics have made for the likes of Kendrick Perkins, Glen "Big Baby" Davis, Tom Thibideau...
Everyone knows KG is the world's biggest fan of Gino Time which is why the C's will incorporate the popular '70s dancer into KG's upcoming tribute video. But now that KG's in Brooklyn there will be no more Gino Time for him - not unless the Nets find themselves down 20 to the C's at the TD Garden with under a minute left in the game. Or not unless Nets...
