Found March 07, 2014 on RealGM:
The Philadelphia 76ers have lost 15 straight games by an average of 19.8 points and 25 of their past 28 games. Some of that frustration recently boiled over in a highly animated conversation on the sideline between Michael Carter-Williams and Brett Brown. "Nobody should be naïve enough to think that the benefits of this year won't be carried forward, despite the record, despite some of our pound-downs," Brown said. "We have done a lot to bring forward. We talk about the culture, and what does that mean? It's such an open-ended word and it means different things to different people. To me it means, what's the routine? From prepractice workouts to stuff we do in videotape to trying to be professional in the way we handle a shootaround, and on and on and on. So all these lessons, although the public might not see it because they pay attention to winning and losing, which is fair enough, I know what's going on behind the scenes, and we're ticking a lot...

Sir Charles on the 76ers & Tanking

Sixers legend Charles Barkley has no shortage of opinions on the rebuilding process Sam Hinkie and this franchise have embarked on since early last summer.  Back in August 2013 “Sir Charles” told the WIP Morning Show crew that he was “disappointed” with the way the Sixers fired their assistant coaches; that he didn’t understand why they waited until after the draft to...

What can Jarvis Varnado provide for the 76ers?

What can Jarvis Varnado provide for the 76ers?The journey thus far for Jarvis Varnado in professional basketball has been chaotic to say the least.  Varnado was the 41st pick in the 2010 NBA draft by the Miami Heat, but since then, he has been all over the place. He played overseas for several seasons which included time in two different Italian leagues as well as an Israeli league...

Tempering Expectations for Hollis

In the last week two articles have been published online discussing how Brett Brown believes wingman Hollis Thompson is “a keeper” and foreshadowing a potential vital role in the future of this franchise for this 76er rookie. At the end of January, I wrote a post saying that Thompson deserved a roster spot next year and maybe, just maybe, if he put in a great deal of work, Thompson...

Philadelphia 76ers Mock Draft: Our Sixers Trio Projects Hinkie’s 7 2014 Draft Picks

We here at 3D Philly Sports understand the pain and suffering of our fellow Philly fans. Watching the Sixers play right now is just painful. Yeah yeah, it’s for a good cause down the road, but nobody should have to watch the Byron Mullens show. I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy right now. […]The post Philadelphia 76ers Mock Draft: Our Sixers Trio Projects Hinkie’s 7...

Can A Modified Lottery System Solve The NBA Tanking Problem?

It’s been getting ugly in Philadelphia. A 76ers team that was constructed to ‘win’ a high lottery pick traded two of their best players for pieces they didn’t need and draft picks that are probably not going to help them and got even worse. They weren't alone and their motivation seems clear. A second worst finish in the league gets a 19.9 percent chance at winning...

Vegas: Sixers Will Go 0-Fer

Last week I authored a post in which I anlayzed the 76ers’ remaining schedule and hypothesized that the team stood a “puncher’s chance” of winning two or three more games over the rest of this dreadful season. Yesterday I was emailing with a colleague at Bovada.lv and we were discussing the sorry state of the 76ers, the 22  games they have left to play in 2013-14 and my...

Royce White signs 10-day contract with Sacramento Kings

The ballad of Royce White continues in the NBA. The very talented forward has been a mystery in the NBA as he has battled his anxiety issues and struggled to make his way onto an NBA court. The Rockets, who drafted him 16th in the 2012 Draft, gave up on him after he spent a season in limbo arguing with the organization about how they would manage his anxiety issues -- which make...

Sixers coach Brett Brown on whether we’ll see Nerlens Noel play this year: “It really is, ‘Who Knows?’”

Nerlens Noel was selected with the sixth overall pick in last summer’s draft, and the Sixers traded Jrue Holiday for him in order to jumpstart their rebuilding process. But we have yet to see Noel take the floor for Philadelphia this season, in much the same way that Andrew Bynum missed his entire year with the team while attempting to recover from multiple injuries. The difference...

Tanking remains a thorny issue in NBA

Tanking is still a very very thorny issue in the NBA. As the season comes to a close and the Playoffs slip further and further away for many teams, the temptation to increase the odds at winning the lottery increases. For many in the media and in the league, they see the problem of tanking and "purposeful losing" as a bane to the league's existence. It is something...

Carter-Williams learning to grow into a leader

Michael Carter-Williams is 22 years old. He has been anointed the leader of the Sixers because he is the point guard and is very talented. Being a leader comes naturally to some, others grow into the role. Coach Brett Brown says Michael Carter-Williams has a long ways to go -- as does this Sixers team -- but he has his starting point guard’s back. The Sixers' defense was...

Sixers shoe game strong

The Sixers are becoming increasingly difficult to watch, but it isn't all bad.Check out the original article, from Philadunkia, here. The Sixers haven’t played the best basketball over the past couple seasons, but they have remained relevant in the shoe game. The team has had a couple of the league’s most notorious sneakerheads in today’s NBA on the recent roster; from...

Brett Brown talks AI & Sixers chances

Philadelphia 76ers head coach Brett Brown was a guest on the Dan Patrick show this morning and it was an interesting interview. There were two comments that really caught my attention. One was the Sixers chances at winning another game this season. The other was about Allen Iverson and whether or not he could play for the current Sixers squad, something many fans clamored for during...
