Back in the 1980's, I'm going to take a guess that many NBA players weren't hitting up their local Comic-Con's.However since we are now in the new millennium, NBA players are now free to roam and enjoy the comic goodness.Check some of the pictures of Brooklyn Nets center Brook Lopez attending the event on Sunday and geeking out:For those of you thinking that Brook Lopez isn't a true comic nerd, you would be so totally wrong:At Comic Con, Lopez was in his element. He wandered over to a glass case that housed row upon row of superhero figurines. "These have all come out," Lopez said, which was his way of saying that he already owns them. He rattled off their names: "Robotman, Negative Man, the Metal Men—Gold, Iron, Mercury, Tin…"Upstairs, in a cavernous space that felt like an airplane hangar, Lopez hit "Artist Alley," where many of the industry's top artists and writers had stationed themselves at booths to meet fans and sell sketches. Lopez scanned his program. "I have to figure out everyone here who's on my list," he said.He slowly made the rounds, stopping to chat with artists he's befriended in recent years. A constant topic of conversation: Lopez's storage-cabinet project, which is quite involved. For each alphabetized drawer, Lopez is commissioning an artist to draw a comic-book character whose name starts with that letter. Lopez has lost track of how many comics he owns. "Thousands," he said, "at least." He visited with Jim Calafiore, who had already contributed to the project with a drawing of Aquaman.  (Images and Quotes courtesy of Wall Street Journal)
