As the Greg Oden waiting game finally came to an end this past weekend, the new waiting game, in connection with the San Antonio Spurs, revolves around their current assistant coach Brett Brown.
Since draft night, Brown has been involved in numerous rumors as a front-runner to land the vacant head coaching job of the Philadelphia 76ers and on Monday afternoon, Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski revealed Brown along with four other candidates will have interviews with the 76ers' brass sometime this week in New York.
Four assistant coaches – Atlanta's Kenny Atkinson, San Antonio's Brett Brown, Chicago's Adrian Griffin and Boston's Jay Larranaga – are scheduled to meet with, Sixers managing partners Josh Harris and David Blitzer, among other team officials, sources told Yahoo! Sports.
As it's been stated in the past, with Mike Budenholzer heading to Atlanta to coach the Hawks, Brown is now the longest tenured coach under Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich on the Spurs' bench. Alongside Brown, Ime Udoka and Jim Boylen will also be sitting by Popovich in the coming season.
As Wojnarowski writes, the reason why selecting a coach has taken so long for Philadelphia is because the 76ers want to be assured they'll have a coach who is ready to win in the future and beyond, not with the roster presently assembled and season to come.

Kawhi Leonard proved to the NBA world that he can be an elite player for the San Antonio Spurs during the NBA Finals. Now, could he prove to be one of the best small forwards in the NBA in 13-14?
Every NBA team seemingly has a “small” and “big” lineup now and days, which means small forwards spend nearly as much time at their natural position as they do at other positions...
Even at the young age 19, San Antonio Spurs' Tony Parker showed flashes of the kind of player he would one day become.
In this highlight Parker shows off the same basic footwork he uses to get his shot off today. Of course the mechanics have been tweaked over time on his release, but you can still see just how raw he is.
This was his best game of the 2002 Playoffs...

San Antonio Spurs' Aron Baynes didn't get much time on the court last season but when he did, he showed hustle, desire, and how much he can be an imposing figure in the paint.
He had a whirlwind rookie season and even was able to get to the NBA Finals in his first season. However, he also felt the sting of losing Game 6 to the Heat after coming so close to title No. 5...
San Antonio Spurs point guard Cory Joseph played just 41 minutes in last year's NBA Finals, with a shade over 20 coming in the Spurs' dominating 36-point blowout in Game 3.
Joseph, San Antonio's other 2011 first-round pick (the other being, of course, starting small forward Kawhi Leonard) didn't have much space in Gregg Popovich's minutes ledger, though...

Tony Parker of the San Antonio Spurs is about a month away from leading his French national team into the European Championships at Eurobasket. Parker is the undeniable leader of a squad that is more depleted than usual. Still France is one of the favorites to contend for the championship.

Former San Antonio Spurs forward Robert Horry had a knack for knocking down big shots in clutch situations. He did for just about every team he played for and he was key in the Spurs’ 2005 NBA Finals series against the Detroit Pistons.
Perhaps Horry is most remembered for his shot that turned the series around when the Lakers trailed the Sacramento Kings in a possible closeout...
The French National team continued its preparation for the 2013 Eurobasket Tuesday with an 89-84 victory over Germany. As was reported Saturday, San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker did not play in the friendly exhibition.

If there weren't so many away-from-the-court concerns with Jackson it's safe to say he already would have found a free-agency home by now. For a player to essentially force his way out on a Spurs team with championship aspirations makes one wonder that if Gregg Popovich couldn't get through then who? All of that said Stephen Jackson as insurance makes sense for those...
